I'm with you on that as it's so hard to shift and exercise is hard when you're in pain.I have to find a way around it rather than give up.
My doctor suggested swimming..not breast stroke......walking om treadmill..not on incline and execise bike, aqua aerobics and pilates.

Part of my problem is that I find it hard to get to the pool and when I am there what am I supposed to do with my crutches and how do I get in and out of the pool , it wasn't too bad where we lived before I joined a private health club (along with Dr Dragon), and they always had a life guard on who took my crutches off me and put them at the side when I reached the steps (and they were proper steps not a ladder!)
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup :D

That's a shame Dragon.I'm sure they are breaking DDA by not having hoists or aids for disabled people and even worse that they don't have steps only a ladder.
Just had an idea ..when I went on that weight management thingymebob from the DRs one of the "lessons"" was that people from the local authority came...think they are called lifestyle managers(or similar) and they were employed to take you shopping(to help make healthy choices)...to keep you company on walks and to take you to the health centre and help you with stuff there...like I say just a thought...I also know the mental health schemes do similar.Maybe they can help you.

Just had a lovely bubblebath.Weighed myself before I got in and have lost 6ls since last week so am feeling pleased about that.

well done taxi and on the weight loss. I too would love to go swimming but my trouble is the pool is so cold. I only go to ladies only which is 9pm at night which is very late, and for some reason whilst i'm swimming i end up with cramp in my feeties every few laps or so. I think they are mse's and turn of the heating before the last sessions of the day to save money. lol

Thanks for your votes of confidence you two. This is the year that I'm going to sort my life out once and for all...no excuses...If I'm flagging you can give me a swift kick up the butt!!!!.
Think I'll go and have a nice soak in a bubble bath before my gruelling exercise class tonight.(gruelling to me as I'm a lazy git)
Turned the mattress over on the bed last night and slept a bit better so that's a start.
Back to work tomorrow with a vengeance and hopefully to make loads.

As always i can lob a few turnips and likewise you can lob something at me if i get too demotivated..nothing like a good old turnip lobbing session to perk us all up.:D

I am sorry for you Dragon, as it is should be against rules not to provide facilities for disabled folk..lobby them until your needs are met:mad:

Hi all...my lovely DFWs....I managed the whole class and then had half an hour in the jacuzzi....I'm aching already so guess I will feel it tomorrow. It was fun though in a strange kind of a way..I have booked for Aqua aerobics on monday night as well.
Think I'm best to start off slowly as haven't done any proper exercise for a long time. Then I can build it up over a month or two.Think that's the most sensible thing to do.
All the staff were asking how I was as my DD works there so they know everything. My trainer wants me to have another assessment but I said I don't want one for a few weeks as don't feel up to it yet...but promised him I would.
I agree with you totally Bob about the pool for Dragon and every place has to be accessible to disabled...it makes me mad things like that.
Sorry to hear that your pool is cold LT that must be awful. Can't stand cold pools.
I do find my gym membership good value (when I use it) as it's an anytime one and I get assessments, programmes, any classes I want to do for £42 per month...and it's very very clean.
The council one is dirty and you can hardly ever get in because schools use it and the classes get full quick and that costs £30 ish per month...they charge for assessments as well.If you don't have a membership it's about £5ish a class.
They even have advanced Salsa dancing classes at our gym....it's a nice place. It's just getting me off my !!! to go but I'm determined this time to do it.

i was considering joining the council gym mainly because of the pool, also the only other gym round here with one wants silly money just to get membership, let alone the monthly payment.

Ouch to that LT...have a good luck around and ask them if schools use it so that you can make sure you get your use out of a council one.
