Suspended from work! (Production/Factory Supervisor)

  • I completely agree with dmg24 there - even though I have been in almost the same situation.
I bit my lip and apologised, even though I had absolutely NO reason on the planet to apologise. My direct manager was making life/job awkward, being obstructive, and he was also suffering from depression for which he openly (and proudly) refused to take time off or his medication for, even though he was signed off work etc...!! It was hard, and I hated doing it, but what's more important?? Pride or a roof over your head? I made it quite clear that I didn't see why I had to apologise, and the person recieving the apology agreed (I was helping/standing up for him).

At the end of the day I still have my job, nightmare manager has left :) and all is well. Higher management eventually saw him for what he really was.

Why ask if you're not prepared to consider the answers?
  • p.s. I sympathised with you till a certain extent, you were trying to give your help where it was clearly needed. Even the swearing is forgivable.

It's the fact that you refuse point blank to say sorry where I stopped understanding where you're coming from

I was once told by my HR department that this practice is illegal and that in all probability their employer's liability cover may be invalidated if he/she was working.

It's the swearing that has landed you in trouble - that is what is meant by the reference to 'allegations of unreasonable and abusive bahaviour...'

I think that you have been treated badly. Saying that if I was in your position I would bite my tongue and apologise in the most sincere way I could find although not mean it for one second.

For the sake of seeing "Sorry" you will lose your job.

See you on the benefits board for a round of "I worked for x years and all I am entitled to is this!!!!111" in Jan.

    Look forward to it.

If he is dismissed his entitlement will be very low, if anything at all. I'm not sure my principles would stretch that far! ;)

Like I said thanks guys but I will lose my job if need be. If anything it will give me a good rest before I start my new job overseas with 2x the salary excluding housing, medical and schooling packages.

Was only a matter of time before I dumped them in it but they beat me to it. Im not complaining at all though, Im getting paid full for my well earned break before going overseas.

Simply put, I will NEVER say sorry if I think Im right. Even without another job I would still be prepared to lose this one totally.

    Thanks again.
