Shabbychicfan - bad luck with the no-show. But if it makes you feel any better, the same happened to us last year when we were selling our house, with a no-show on New Year's Day. They turned up 2 days later with some lame excuse about a plumbing emergency and went on to buy it for the asking price, so all's not lost!

Hypno, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! You just reminded me that I have a bar of chocolate in the car that I bought at the petrol station. Question is, can I run down the 3 flights of stairs, grab it, and run back up again before any aeroplanes call me?!
  • A continued thanks for the great thread Hypno, the first one i always read....

was pondering this morning about how i can set a saving challenge for January and 2009 (need to break it down into smaller chunks than a year as i get bored) and then read on your thread this morning about the Children's Tax Credit. I phoned my local tax office, then got OH to do it too...seems we didn't claim it (didn't know about it) so we will be doing that tomorrow...but one of the girls we spoke to said that you can't claim for 01-02 anymore just 02-03...but whether that is right or not...we will be able to claim for one year.....SO THANKS to your thread my savings have got a kick start.....:T :T :T

SANDWICHES: i used to swing between making my own (cheap) then eating them by 10 am and then buying some for lunch (double calories) and then i started making them at the weekend and freezing them...easy in the mornings just to pull a pack out of freezer...they were defrosted by lunchtime which meant couldn't eat them before...and i was amazed they tasted absolutely fine!!!! (come home for lunch now so don't need to do this)...might help with the debt busting....:j

have a great new year in the hypno household

Freezing sarnies - that's a fab idea savingmore! Although with the temperature here they'd probably not defrost until April.
  • Glad to see you had a nice Christmas in the Hypno household. Phew at getting right back into the debt busting. I have resisted the sales so far but have had extra expenses with In laws stopping, and a boiler fix as well as meal out..so i will be grabbing hold of shirt tales and trying a meagre wobble behind you.
Here's to a very successful debt busting 2009.

Wasn't around much last night so only saw all your nice posts this morning - Panda, did you get the chocolate.......I will worry if I don't know the answer :p

Scratchcards have been mean to me this morning - nothing more than 10p.....still waiting for that elusive £100

MSE wise, I will try and resist all spending (except milk - mine went out of date on 18th Dec, although is still fine, but won't be for much longer, surely!), and I found 50p in the bottom of my bag yesterday which went into my sealed tin.......I need to check online banking yet, but I don't have anything moneymaking up my sleeve for the next few days so I have to concentrate on not spending anything instead I suppose!

Hope you all have a good day x

  • Morning Hypno, morning all.

I haven't managed to get higher than 20p yet:rolleyes: I've even tried starting over different squares to see if that works!!

I had my last day in my old job yesterday, got some lovely flowers and my last wages cheque but never did get the bonus from May - they said if it doesnt work out I can have my job back - no doubt on min wage though:eek:

Well, having seen so many people start challenges and be amazed at the earn £10 per day challenge, I set myself earn £1 per day challenge - will help to pay for Xmas 2009! I have started today - need the headstart :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have £2.30 in b!ngo and have just put a phone through a recycling co for £19.00. Does that mean I don't have to do anything until 19th Jan, hehe.

Keep up the good work, Hypno, as we all say you are our daily kick up the whatsit to keep going.

    HAPPY NEW MSE DFW YEAR!!!!!!!!

i have been very good and been waiting for a set of books to be on offer viturally since we got here. And they were on offer today, woohoo when i have money for myself. So I have myself 3 volumes of books about dragons (long story, but I am a sci fi and fantasy nut)

hope you debt busting, and sale resisting continues to go well.

youareallhelpingme - it doesn't matter where you start on the scratchcard - in fact if you start on the bottom right hand square, that will tell you how much you are going to win today.........:p

Mr Motivator - well, I am glad that I am at work and don't have a telly in my office, although there is one in the office next door......yes, I think I can resist :rotfl:
