Morning Hypno (and everyone else). My DD has a big room with a desk and chair and still ends up lying on the bed or the floor to do her homework (she's doing A levels now) - the desk is used as a dumping ground !!!
Anyway DS had his operation yesterday - leg is now pretty swollen but I'm sure it will all turn out fine. He's been picked to go to Gibraltar with the Army Open Water Swim Team in May so he has to be fit by then!!
Hope everyon ehas a good day0 -
Moooorning. All things bright and beautiful here. Cake is looking fab and cat has kept its laughing tackle to itself.

Is the hedghog cake made with chocolate, lucielle? If so, make sure you keep it out of my sight.........our student brought home a big chocolate cake last night and while they all troughed into it (not sure if "troughed" is a word, but it certainly described their eating, perfectly), I had to be content with feeling virtuous........Roll on Easter!
Surfbabe, hope DS leg heals quickly and they get him lots of phsyio if he is going to be doing that swim - May is only a few weeks away :eek:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I'm in profit already.......amongst the many piles that WERE in the kitchen......I found a £10 boots voucher from pigsback :T
Hmmm maybe that would help my motivation to sort the rest of mine out - there is a £10 M&S voucher lost in the wilds of my flat somewhere.I need some new pairs of undies and have been putting it off until I find it as I know its there somewhere.
:rotfl:
I have neither a skip nor access to the tip (I don't drive) but I do have few decent sized communal bins in my street (about 2/3 size of a mini skip??) - I filled 2 (and a bit) in the run up to Xmas. I'm sure my flat has at least another full bin full to yield. Might mean I can actually access my virtually empty extra large wardrobe - (currently blocked from accessing it by box mountain)
It would be nice to re discover more of my bedroom floor and loose the assualt course I need to cross to get to bed. Oh and it would be nice to be able to open a cupboard without protective clothing (due to avalanche risk:rotfl: ). Its been heavenly to have a clear livingroom, hall and kitchen (since Xmas). After clearing these in time for hosting Xmas I woke up for the 1st few days smiling my head off at the novelty and sheer enjoyment of a clutter free (ish) living space. It looked so much larger too!
Argggggghhhh... there went my relaxing weekend... :wall: :rotfl:
Sorry you didn't get the job Walshy. I hope your DS's leg will be recovered in time Surfbabe.Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Hi Hypno. Good luck with the clutter clearing - hope you find a few more £10 vouchers lurking under the ironing.
My 14 year old DDs each have a desk and neither ever uses it. Homework is always done in bed or on the floor. However I quite understand you wanting to be 'just us' - I would find it very hard living with someone else's child and admire you for being so uncomplaining about it.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
OK so it seems it's a de-clutter weekend all round then?
I'm hoping the piano will go (potential buyer visiting tomorrow) :j
But what do I do with the myriad of boxes/bags/packing materials that I may need when I send out the other 3 piles of ebayable stuff......where is it all to go0 -
I vote NEXT weekend to be the big declutter weekend - after all, MSE is down for maintenance between Friday night and Sunday, so what else are we supposed to do!!!
Seaxwyn, hello!!! I need to know what size your DS is in - I have the latest round of ski jackets ready to pass down if you want......get prepared for next winter!
The reason I have generally been uncomplaining about the students is because.......they are quite nice to have about, normally - the one we have now is just fantastic, and I would happily have her stay on another year! Also, the small matter of £128 per week means that any gripes tend to get pushed to the back of my mindSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Afternoon Hypno's diary.
I am very impressed with your clear out scenario Hypno I need to do that previously we have moved every 2 to 3 years and so hired a skip each time or went to the dump and had a grand clear out. Been in our present house over 11 years so you can imagine how much it is mounted up with 8 in the house. I do so want to move eventually so a clear out now would be a step in the right direction. My kids don't use their desks either but I can understand wanting us space and if it delays your debt free day by a couple of months what the heck you will have gained a better life in the meantime.
I am sorry Walshy that you didn't get the job but as you say you can build on the experience gained and I am sure that the right job will come along.
Seaxwyn I am about to post on your thread for the first time I know the diaries board has its drawbacks but I have been reading more diaries since they have all been put together and they are very inspirational.
Glad DS's op has been done Surfbabe and trust he will soon be swimming.
Shaun some wise thoughts you have there. I know we can't advertise but for your break I would suggest you book accommodation and flights separately there is a site where you can book with owners directly (that should give you a clue as to the name) and I am sure you could get something cheaper.

Hello DT!
We are the same - until the house we are in now, we have never stayed anywhere more than 3 years, so always had fairly regular clear outs.......My house currently feels really small, but it is a decent size, so it must just be down to the amount of "stuff" I have in it.......
.......it is a recurring theme on my diaries, so I apologise to all that are saying "yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before".....but each time, I do make a bit of difference, so eventually all these "efforts" must surely get me the space I so crave!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
