Evening all
Wanabe Sybil, madsmum, skint_chick (have I missed anyone?) - Welcome to the madhouse  and yes, we hardly do any flying because we're too busy chattering, so the thread's sometimes bigger!
LL - thinking of you tomorrow
Zoey - how are the staples?
Michelle (hope the hand is not too sore), Greenbee, Boddy, Lil_me, Froddington - Thank you for asking. DH was home and in bed before I got home from work. DS tried to get hom to have a drink but he didn't want anything.I got hiom to drink a bit of water to wash down two cold and flu capsules at about 8.00.
Re: Santa - my DD is 24 and still believes in Santa, at least - she says if she doesn't, he won't bring her anything! :rotfl:And she still has to have a stocking. She's got a friend coming for Christmas and asked if I'll help her to do one for G. Mind you, she also believes in the cooking fairy, the ironing fairy, the cleaning fairy.......................:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Natty - thank you for my card (which was also already opened - courtesy of the Post Office?)
AnW's mum, Mumoffour77 (brave decision and I quite like ironing too! :rotfl:- it's looking like we could do a coach trip and I'd even bring my own steam generator iron!) - "God gave us our relations, Thank God we can choose our friends!" My MIL, SIL x 2, BIL x 2 never make an effort to contact us, (been married 26 years and they've never visited - I'm English!) always has to be the other way, so I've now given up. DH can do what he likes, but I won't put myself, DD or DS out any more. They always know where we are if they need anything! ((((hugs)))) to you both, for being such wonderful Mums, with (by the sound of things) happy, well-adjusted charming children. Kaz - I'll adopt you if you like! :rotfl:And don't forget the difference between In-laws and Outlaws - Outlaws are wanted!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Toots - never too late for a charm bracelet! You can ask rellies/friends to buy charms when they can't think of anything for birthdays etc. It would soon grow.
Mudbath - good news re: tests and have a lovely birthday tomorrow. :bdaycake:
OJK - Is your favourite song "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam" by any chance? :rotfl:
toochoosey - incubation is usually 14 days so a bit early for CP, but watch out for shingles. It may well be a reaction to the Beechams. Is there anything on the contraindication sheet? If you're at all concerned, you can always call NHS Direct for advice, or your own GP.
Well, I think I can safely say that my flying is going to go out of the window this week (and probably next week too). My first day back and I left home at 8.45 to meet at colleague's house. 2 cups of coffee, s cups of tea, a banana and an apple that I took with me, 9 1/4 hours and no breaks later, I walked back in the house. My colleague smokes and was reasonably careful to move away from me (but not in her car ) and rarely eats during the day, but I need to eat (apart from which, I think we should be having a break anyway) as I can trigger a migraine if I don't, and my energy levels plummet. Needless to say, by the time I got home and sorted dinner out, which DS had started by putting jacket pots in to bake and I just took some spag bol sauce out of the freezer and microwaved it, I've not felt like doing anything! The job search is intensifying.
Anyway, I've caught up on the thread, will try to at least keep up with my dailies and the good news is that I can't have a half day for the solicitor on Thursday, I have to take a whole day, so I can do some flying when I come home.
I'm off to bed now, so goodnight all and God Bless. x

toochoosey wouldn't like to say but pox are contagious before not after the spots usually, I'd not take any more beechams then speak to the pharmacist tomorrow (who are usually better at rashes/side effects than GPs!) ((hugs)) mustn't be nice loosing in laws when you are blessed with nice ones. Isn't it spooky when people do that, people I know had twins in the family, his aunty and Mam, they died within 24 hours of each other after spending most of their lives together.
Froddy hope the play goes well
jjef ((hugs)) hope you do feel better soon but if you need a day off, take it, you get no extra thanks for working when unwell
greenbee - I've had a spelt pillow, didn't like it, don't like the memory foam pillows either. Got mine from ethicalduck when recommended by someone, yak, hated it, gave it away.
emily enoy the party
natty, personally I'd put a letter in to the post office, mentioning that several of the cards you sent were opened, that does seem a little 'iffy'
skint_chick welcome
Oh no expenses, I have about 7 months of travel expenses to claim back, forgot about that, need to do milage calc and fill in the forms for the LA by Friday, bum!
OOooops forgot DPs brother was here and nearly just came downstairs in just my nightie, at least I remembered, hope I do in the morning, he's only young bless him (22 I think), don't want to scare him just yet. Bless him, he's eaten anyway, he's out of work at the mo after being made redundant and no escape from his mother now she's back with not going to work, I wonder if he ends up being a lodger until she goes back.....it's happened before.
For all those with excess ironing and who dislike it (Valli I do worry about you sometimes, like and ironing should not be in the same sentence), put it away, don't touch it again unless it NEEDS ironing when you want to wear it, guarantee you'll iron less.
I managed to get all of your envelopes and my cards for the FL ones done tonight, carefully selected. Boys will start putting cards in tomorrow eveningOne day I might be more organised...........

Toots thanks for the PM, much appreciated.
Off to bed now, welcome newbies & hugs to all especially AnW'sMum & Mumoffour xx“Cancer has my body but not my spirit, and I’ll continue to make jokes, not so much about cancer, but in spite of it” Irwin Barker0 -
So... if this works... you should see a pic of my lovely new dress! I'm packing for work and trying to decide what to wear with it... obviously sheer black tights, and I've got a lovely pair of grey satin shoes with black beaded rosettes (don't wear them enough, although they look fab with jeans!). I thought I'd go with smoky grey/purple round the eyes and a really intense red lipstick, but I'm not sure about jewellery. I've got a string of pearls with a garnet clasp that can also be a pendant, and some sparkly/dangly pearl earrings (or I could wear pearl studs for an understated look!). Or I could wear a multistrand necklace made up of silver discs.
BTW... I'm a lot curvier than the mannequin, so the effect isn't quite so demure, but there's still a kind of '50s neckline and silhouette going on.
I hate going out to smart things straight from work. I'll feel grubby and horrible even when I get changed, and it means I either have to go without makeup all day or make the effort to do it properly first thing so it will last!
Still... I'm driving home, so I won't embarrass myself by drinking too much, or (hopefully) be too shattered on Wednesday (working from home... might get some flying done!).
Any thoughts/suggestions before I finally give up and go to bed would be welcomed!0 -
Oooohhhhh Spooks! Love it! I won't do any spoilers though.

Odd Job... your sensitivity overwhelms me.

Toots  Snowballing is a way of paying back your debts in the most efficient way. http://www.whatsthecost.co.uk/snowball.aspx this link will take you to a snowball calculator. The idea is that you pay the maximum you can at the highest interest rate debt, while paying the minimum on your other debts. When your most expensive debt is cleared you pay the maximum you can at the next most expensive debt, and so on. It's amazing how, with a bit of tinkering around, you can clear debts faster.
We discovered that the way we were paying our debts would take us over 40 years to pay them  But, this way, by paying about £120 a month more, we'll clear them in 4 years!!!!!! :T :T :T
It's fascinating! Me and Valls were discussing it late one weekend while you were away I think, so you'd have missed it. HTH

I don't have piles of crumpled clothes anywhere, I hang them carefully to dry or TD them if necessary then fold carefully or hang, removes the need to iron almost anything. Items that need frequent ironing are placed asap in the charity collection bag, yuk! People comment things like 'but your clothes aren't really crumpled' as if it's something they expect when you give up that gastly habit. People should all stop i****** then creased clothes would become 'normal'
I'm sure I have saved a polar bear or 2 in electricity
Creases are normal in our house lil_me.... I fold neatly, then DS or hubby rummage through the pile and mess it up before I have chance to hang up or put away...:eek:
but I like ironing:o
This is why you need therapy Valli :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Must admit, I was put off ironing for life when I was young and lived with my mum - she irons EVERYTHING, and when I say everything, I mean it - pants, socks, knickers, bras and TIGHTS!!!! she also irons towels, teatowels and DUSTERS!!! I used to have to iron my own stuff and she would leave it for me to do - I used to put most of it away sharpish so she couldn't see what I wasn't ironing... come on, ironing dusters and tights, thats just wrong...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
Greenbee your dress looks gorgeous! I used to love wearing that style BC... before children!
How about taking a flannel in a bag, so you can have a wipe over in the the loo before changing? It's not ideal I know, but better than feeling yukky? Very basic make up that can be rescued and added to?? The pearls with the garnet clasp sounds lovely. I'm a sucker for pearls.Hope you have a wonderful night.

**flakes out at the price of greenbee's little black number** !!!!
:rotfl: sorry couldn't resist being nosey, thought it looked 'expensive'. What you have said sounds great, I'm a little unsure on the pearls, but don't think the silver will go with it better, think the garnet will be what it needs with them to set it off, avoid the purple imo......other than that sounds great, what about a more natural stockings/tights than black? just a suggestion. I also think that sort of dress needs more curves. I'd go for a bag with maybe a little sparkle if you have one. Have you got a bracelet to match the pearls or a nice watch? Thinking a lot of arms showing with nothing on the ends of them.
One thing I did cry when I threw away was my old little black dress, it was about 1/2 the price of yours but I adored it, however decided it'd be a long time, if ever, before I fit into it again so parted with itThose sort of dresses can last so many party nights by adding accessories, which is why they are usually worth the money.
Is there somewhere you can have a wash down before going out, I always felt better if I could do that.
Flower, I have liked ironing before, I ironed everything, especially DSs nappies (were both in terry nappies mainly) but seen the light when I added up how many hours I spent doing it! Same goes for washing up. There is more to life!
DP said garage called, a sensor on the ABS and the gear box has gone bang, warranty claim of over £1000! I have said given the problems he's had I think it's fair to ask for an extended warranty or something because this cars got me worried, been back more times than any car we've ever had. Got a Toyota thinking they were reliable! One day I might be more organised...........
