Catching up again, while having a cup of tea!

I've hardly been in today - weekly shopping with DS2 this morning - bit late than I should have been, because I was so tired when the alarm went off at 6.30, that I went back to sleep. Then coffee - essential to my morning! Quick run downtown with DD, dropping the DS's at the cinema en route. We did a lighning shop, only slowed down by the queues, and having checked my lists (which I shed like confetti at every turn) I have very little left to do, thank goodness. I have decided to stick with the reliable book and DVD option for my brother rather than try and be original when I'm tired and stressed.

Five minute lunch, then I went to visit Mum. Dad and brother were there, with brother's new other half, who I haven't met before - she's lovely. I think he should marry her straight away - DD's desperate to be a bridesmaid! Mum is bit better, although still very weak - she did try to say something although it was too quiet to be understood, and she held my hand quite firmly. The blood sugar levels have stabilised, although I'm not sure about the treatment for the infection - she didn't seem to be given antibiotics, but I didn't have a lot of time to read all the notes. The ward is much nicer than the other three she's been in before. Still hate the place - it was quite a struggle to make myself get out of the car and go in!

I'm having a quiet evening. I have to get school work saorted and uploaded tomorrow - I have a brilliant powerpoint about Christmas in France that someone posted to a forum I belong to, and I want to make a quiz sheet they can fill in while watching. There's also a great version of Who want to be a millionnaire? as well, if it loads correctly.

Thank you again to all of you for all the good wishes, it really helps.

Serena - hugs hun - it must have been a difficult day for you underneath, really- but good news that your Mum's blood sugars have stabilised a bit. When she's holding your hand and trying to chat and you can't understand, have you tried getting her to answer yes/no type questions to find out what she's trying to say?

A yes answer to your question would be two squeezes of your hand, a no answer would be one squeeze of your hand. Just a thought....

greenbee I do wonder if a steam cleaner might work on the tiles. Hope you feel better in the morning.
serena pleased to hear your Mum is better. I am sure if you call at a quiet time on the ward (not usually a good idea at meal/pills time) someone would be able to tell you what treatments your Mam is getting and answer any concerns

This lasagne is lovely, so pleased I made some extras in some foil tins I found. Makes a change not having to cook something from scratch when it's just for me.

I've still not got round to properly listing what is in my freezer, but do know there is still quite a bit in there, so going to pop on the meal plan thread, see what I can remember I have in and what I can do with it. Amazing how long it's lasted when I thought we didn't have much in. Wondering what day to do my Christmas food shopping, farm shop/butchers I will be going to on the Tuesday, F&V likely on the Wednesday, will probably need to goto supermarket in the middle of now and Christmas, wonder if there is any delivery slots left when I might be in.....ah, actually I did that last year and ended up without some things as they didn't send it all.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • greenbee hope you feel better after a good sleep -do what's necessary - you will only feel worse if you overdo things tomorrow. sorry to hear the restorer didnt work on the tiles - looks like he will just have to start them again and do it right. its only soappie that got the medal - I am just wishing for one!!!

serena glad you found Mum a wee bit better - at least stabilised - I am sure they will be giving her antibiotics - it could be in one of her drips - its encouraging that she was holding your hand and trying to speak - it will have taken a lot out of her - how is your Dad holding up - does he cope ok on his own? Lots of people dont like going to hospitals so you are not alone - its good that she's in a nicer ward that must help.
Good luck with the quiz - sounds fun!

I was watching Armageddon soappie - not everybody's cup of tea but I am not into most girlie movies - it has Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler(I think she is so beautiful!) and is very sad at the end!

I have almost got a sparkly kitchen - just the sink and floor to do and they will be done tomorrow - the sink has had a good clean but is not flylady shiny yet!!!

Ok bedtime for me - I guess most of you have been glued to Strictly and X factor - its the finals isnt it - oh well I hope your favourite won.
    See you all tomorrow
    hugs to everyone

:j just been too mad at work to fly this week however the house doesn't look too bad!! I think I am expecting to be able to do too much and not getting time to do it because I do after all work full time and I do also have a very bust job, think I need to set myself some small targets and not aim so high so my list for tomorrow is to do the food shopping (menu written shopping list started), to hoover downstairs (may be able to delegate that one), and to do a load of laundry. Should be able to manage that and still get my school stuff sorted too!

    Here's hoping!
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last

Thank you Ladies for your ongoing and continued support. Mummy's been a little stronger today and the little boy has colour in his cheeks for the first time in weeks. Fingers crossed everyone.

Well..... Wow.... Loved X Factor, just what I needed to take my mind out of myself... IYSWIM! Couldn't believe how good Alex was with Beyonce, and singing Hallelujah!!! She nearly knocked me off my seat. Beautiful... it's one of my favourite songs, so glad she did it justice.

We've attempted a family type day today.... why do I ever think that doing the trees with the children will be fun??????

Ah well, it's done now, and looking a little festive here.

Lil_me my DD3 is particularly loopy at the moment too. Terminator style nagging.... relentless, will not stop..... Joy. I didn't think about the moon... but I'm wondering now! ((hugs)) to you from me. xx

I'll be honest SarahS it's more likely to be the changes at school effecting their mood, the time of year effecting illness etc but it's nice to sometimes blame something else. With the boys it's change, when we'd put the lights up outside the house DS1 got out of his school taxi and ran up the street, doesn't like all the changes, he's ok with it now but it's that time of year when everything, school, home, shops etc change the most.

Another thing I have had to consider, spent quite a bit of time thinking about it tonight, is because of the people I become friends with and spend my time with, it's one of those things that there will be more childhood deaths that I am aware of than some parents, as a lot of them are disabled or have a terminal illness. I then considered is it a good idea, me having friends like that if it hurts so much, but yes it is, they are my inspiration, the reason I don't usually moan and count my blessings, the reason I have my passion for what I do. Every minute spent with them, sharing their lives, however short, is an honour x

Been thinking a lot tonight about hopes, fears (then found a photo of me in a newsletter **big fear**) dreams, wishes etc. Suppose something we all do before new years. A bit draining isn't it? Good all the same to take some time to reflect. However means I didn't get much done :o

soappie what a lovely way to put it

  • Lil_me :D I know what you mean about it being nice to have something else to blame it on for a change. I'm sure you're right, it usually is change that sets her off, and to be fair, she's probably not that much different... my tolerance is very low at the moment for it all.

I salute you and understand your words.... I can comment no more, too tired, but I agree.

Everyone I know is having a really tough time just now. (bar one friend who always sails through life with a good stiff tail wind :rotfl: and of corse she moans and b!tches and gripes and complains the whole time!! )

Right, I'm off to bed now... tired girly here.

    See you all tomorrow.
