RMR's running away from debt diary

  • It's payday for me next Thursday and I can't wait! I can finally make a nice large payment off my loan as it'll be the first month of rent payments for the new place. I officially move next Monday (22nd) but I'm off to Wimbledon that day and busy the Tuesday so it will actually be the Wednesday I move.

Then I live in limbo for a week, packing, unpacking, cleaning and selling to make the old place look respectable.

I can't wait to see my signature totals go down as the next few months go on.

Plus I've re-joined the payment a day thread so I'm making extra payments into a separate current account which will all go towards the loan too. Currently at £12.95.

  • One more thing. Just an observation really. Why does EVERYTHING happen at the same time? June has been a nightmare so far as it's been my OH's birthday and one of best friends birthday (I'm going up to Brizzle to see her this weekend). SO expensive.

I was stupid and didn't budget extra for it, so I'm extra skint until payday.

Refuse to put it on credit though (as I would have before) and fortunately have holiday savings I can dip into if I must.

I totally know what you mean RMR. Luckily though I get paid weekly, it does make things alot easier.
I get paid on a Saturday but for some reason got paid today instead. I'm going to a charity night tonite taking £20 with me, paid £20 for the turtle a heater as it blew up on Wednesday, lent £10 to a friend, £10 towards DD's school trip, a fiver to put in a friends card for her birthday and I have £20 left to pay towards my rent. And that's it gone and its not even pay day. Out of all those things there's only the rent money I have on my outgoings list that I did on monday, and even for that I'd wrote £40 as that was what I was hoping to pay towards my arrears. It's amazing how the little things add up.
A massive well done though for not putting those things on credit:T:T
I'm looking forward to seeing your sig changing too, it's already looking great and like you say it's going to start coming down alot faster. I'd imagine going under the 10k will be fab. No more double figures for you! yay!:j

  • Thank you Bowski. Yes, I can't wait for it to be under the £10k mark. I get paid on Thursday so that will be a very good day :D

Had a stroke of luck yesterday as I found £20 (in my forgotten secret hiding place) which must have been there since Christmas. It couldn't have turned up at a better time. :j

I have now listed all my furniture for sale on various (free) classified websites. I've had a few enquiries already so fingers crossed it all goes quickly.

Moving date is a week Thursday now as life is v. busy, even without moving house!

  • Woohoo! All furniture sold in one go to someone looking to furnish a complete flat. Sold it for enough money to buy a small flat screen tv for the new place too. I just hope they keep to their word. Having to move in with the 'rents for three nights as I won't have a bed to sleep on.

Have given away my humongous TV on freecycle too so my place is going to look very empty soon.

Moving day is now next Wednesday not Thursday. I'll make up my mind soon!

    Payday tomorrow!!!!!

  • Woohoo Payday today :j:j

Managed to pay £169.99 EXTRA off my Natwest loan. It would have been more except I'm still suffering from an expensive month last month. In the future it will be at least £200 a month plus my payment a day amount. I am FINALLY under the £10k mark.

    Here's my updated ticker.

It was at 30.5% so moving up nicely.

This will be updated through the next week or two as direct debits get taken out. I get so excited when it's a bill paying day :D

Bowski, do you have a diary? Would love to follow your progress.

Hi RMR... I've only just caught up, my laptop's been away getting fixed and my computer has completely died on me. But anyways, laptop back now (and extra shiny) so I'm happy happy happy!

Well done on getting under 10k and your debt free date :j:j

I don't have a diary, although I am thinking of starting one, even if it's just to write lists of things to do and to be able to cross them off lol I am on here most nights so there's no reason why I shouldn't have one, plus I love reading people's diaries and get lots from them, not even just help with debts. I'm sure you'll know what I mean. If I do start one then I'll be sure to let ya know. And don't forget you can still come on SAID thread, I don't think you're allowed to leave even if you do have a man lol

How did the move go? That's if you haven't moved the date again lol And how's things going with forbidden man? Do you think you made the right choice?

    Hope the move's gone well

  • Hello!! Well, now that I have the internet in my new room, thought I should update my diary. I moved into the new place a couple of months ago.

I'm not keen at the loss of independence, but I spend most of my time at forbidden man's place so it's not too bad a situation I suppose. At least I have a roof over my head and extra money for debt repayments.

Nothing much else to add, except the relationship is still going well and the debt is slowly coming down, so that's very positive.

Right, will update again when something interesting happens!
