RMR's running away from debt diary

I am SO relieved as it's payday today. All the money is pretty much allocated out already, but at least it's a bit of breathing space for a while.
I've paid £200 of my credit card (nearly there!!) and have applied for a Virgin CC on the 16 month 0% deal. The plan is to get the £5,000 limit moved into my current account so I can pay off half my loan, which means that part will be interest free :j
I admit to having bought a Davina fitness DVD as I haven't done any exercise since I completed the great south run last October. I can't afford the gym and don't feel inspired to run at the moment so thought this was a cheap alternative.
I've also bought a Paul McKenna book/CD which is for gaining confidence. I'm not totally unconfident, but when it comes to certain things I lose my nerve, and I just don't want to go through life like that. I've done the 'change your life in 7 days' CD and book, and I really found it helped, so I'm going to give this one a try.
So that's my frivolous spending out of the way for this month. I have a whole load of toiletries to buy this month too (why do they all always run out at the same time?
) and other than the normal food and socialising, that's all I need to get.
I haven't bought any magazines this WHOLE year so far :j Yes, I know we're only halfway through the first month, but that's really good for me.

Edit: Meant to add that I have a few things selling on ebay so that should give me a bit more to put on the CC, plus I haven't bought any clothes this year so far either. Although the littlewoods catalogue turned up today, so will have to resist looking at it...LBM February 2008. DFD March 2013 19 August 2011Debt at LBM £14,395.48. Debt Now £00 -

I wish!!! It's all going onto my loan sadly
LOL so the way you don't buy magazines is to read all the diaries on here? That's actually a good idea, not to mention dfw AND motivating at the same time.LBM February 2008. DFD March 2013 19 August 2011Debt at LBM £14,395.48. Debt Now £00 -
Just a quick update from me today. I have had the cash from Virgin go into my current account and I called Natwest to get most of that amount taken off my Natwest loan. Signature updated, and it looks much better as I know I'm only paying interest on £3,000 rather than £10,000 :j
I will overpay my Natwest loan by at least £50 every month which means less interest every month (interest is added monthly) so my goal for the end of 2009 is to completely clear the loan. And some of my Virgin CC.
I have also been able to pay off my Mint CC completely
I am feeling so positive at the moment. I know I still have a way to go but with the help of this site, and the support of all you lovely forumites, I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. :T

p.s. got a free Veet sample through today, which I have to review for Glamour magazine. I don't actually remember applying for that

Ah, it really has been a long time since my last update. Ooops! Well, since 27 January I have got myself a new bloke which means dfw'ing is not as easy. He doesn't have debt, but is fine with me keeping to a weekly budget for us to go out and about and do things.
As I want rid of my Natwest debt ASAP, I have decided to look for a cheaper place to rent. I'm currently in my own place for £600 p/m all bills included, and am looking for a shared place for £400 p/m all bills included. As I spend most of my time at the blokes place, it seems silly to pay out for a place I'm rarely in.
However, being realistic, we may break up so it needs to be a place that i would be happy spending lots of time in should the need ever arise.
So, that's my update. Really can't believe it's been nearly 4 months since I was last on my own diary!!!
I shall update as and when I find a place to move into. It's going to be manic!

Hi RMR....
Good to see you back!
Is your guy the one you went on a date to the zoo with? I think moving somewhere cheaper is a good idea especially if like you sayyou spent most of your time at OH's house. Very sensible aswell choosing somewhere you need to be comfortable if you's split up and not jumping straight into something. I think I always jump in too fast and end up living with guys straight away (it's happened twice!) and it's usually just because it's just easier! Which is just stupid and I'll not be making that mistake again!!! One lad I went out with lived with me since practically the night I met him lol not funny really but suppose I gotta laugh or I'll cry lol
Your sig is looking good, looks like the debts are going down nicely! (although I'm sure not as nicely as you'd like as they've not disappeared over night:p )Initial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80
Debt now Jan 2021 - £6,208.21
Overpayment pot - £00 -

Hi Bowski!! Thank you for replying. The OH is actually forbidden man, not the one I went to the zoo with (very well remembered though - that was months ago!). How are things with you?
Anyway, an update on possibly moving - I have today finished looking at all the rooms I would be willing to accept in the area I live and have now decided on the room I would like to move into. It's in a wonderful town house, three storeys high and with just the lady owner as a housemate. She has wonderful taste and the house is decorated so nicely.
I emailed her today so we can meet up later in the week to make sure she's happy for me to move in too. I'm just hoping someone else hasn't snatched the room in the meantime. It was a couple of weeks ago I saw it.
Fingers crossed it all goes well
