I would suggest that you steer clear of boffer as they just sell a load of rubbish that nobody else can sell.
They have been set-up to promote themselves as bargain outlets and their offering an item for sale for a short period is designed to make it seem like a bargain. They deliberately rely on the fact that people will be fooled into thinking it is a bargain because they have to make a quick decision to buy. You don't have time to find out what the completion is or ask for advice because you will be scared you will miss out.
They are deliberately taking advantage of sites like this one, knowing that people who don't know any better will post their deals and give them free advertising. It would be like someone sitting watching the QVC shopping channel an posting each product that was being shown. In fact the likes of boffer appeal to the same sort of person that shops on a shopping channel.
The basic principle of their business is buy up a load of old obsolete stock from bulk auctions and then try and make it seem like a bargain for unsuspecting consumers.
They have a forum that is entirely one sided. You are only allowed to post positive comments, any comments that don't praise the product or company quickly get deleted. They also have stooges in the forums that pose as happy customers. They also offer incentives to people for promoting their site on community forums and sites like youtube.
I bought an MP4 player from them in one of their sell-off but they never sent it, when I mentioned in their forum that they never sent my order they just deleted my posts.
In short, DONT BELIEVE THEIR HYPE.
Up to you if you want to take the advice offered by people on here to avoid them or not but this is a money saving site and you would be well advised to avoid wasting your money on rubbish especially in the current economic conditions.0 -
Hi all,
I recently purchased a dell d600 laptop from bigpockets the sister site of boffer,
I paid £170 for it in the middle of october and it arrived within a couple of days.
A few days afterwards i realised the laptop only had 512mb of ram memory installed and contacted bigpockets regarding this.As the one on site was advertised as 1gb of memory.
After submitting a ticket and waiting a few days for a reply i was contacted by one of their staff and told that another 512mb stick of ram would be sent out to me and that they were sorry.
Another week or so passed and this sellotaped to the extreme tiny box arrived and was left at my neighbours house,It had taken that long to get here that i had actually forgot about it.
A friend of mine who works in a local pc shop was given the task of fitting the extra ram to the laptop for me but it wouldn`t work and kept freezing.
I contacted bigpockets to tell them of the fault and they told me it would take another couple of days for them to get a doorstep replacement to me and i waited and waited......
Yesterday i got a chap at the door,YAY it was my new laptop, But to my horror AGAIN this laptop has only 512mb of ram installed.
There has also been other items i have purchased that they oversell and don`t have the stock to fulfill orders, You do get a refund a few weeks down the line when you contact THEM.
I am going to trading standards about it this time as its not as advertised.
Please advise if there is anything else i should do,Thank you all for reading
P.s. Yes i am the easy going ex moderator from boffer everyone liked.
Banned for no reason along with maggzymay,kimmy-s,tattyfurby and a few others. And still to be given a reason, ILLEGAL don`t you think since we all got outstanding transactions with this company????
It`s about time everyone found out what e-net/svp/boffer/24gone/bigpockets whatever they call themselves is all about cornering the market and that breaks every rule in the book imo.0 -
I seriously think that everyone should contact BBC's Watchdog as well, if enough of you contact them then they would launch an investigation...it would be funny to see the boss squirming in his seatWe have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0
