Abbey are playing hard to get.
I went in and asked if I could have an application form.
No you can't.
You must make an appointment.
I decided to think about it.
Went in again 14 days later.
Can I make an appointment to open a 7% account.
No you can't.
Why not.
We don't book in advance any more.
The queue got to about 4 weeks waiting time.
You have to try early tomorrow morning by phone.
Then we will tell you if you can come in that day and what you will need to bring with you.
Can you tell me now what I will need to bring tomorrow if I do get an appointment.
No.
I said I will think about it.
I am still thinking about it.
Stoozing is less hassle.
The offer may end soon anyway.

I don't know why the last two of you are so averse to doing things by post ... I completed the application form online for my wife and posted it off and it's all set up. Very efficient given Abbey's reputation.
She's off to open a Nationwide bond tomorrow
