wax on carpet

Options
Hello All

I hope you can help me. My housemate has spilt hair removing wax all over her carpet in her room. Old fashioned tips like ironing over the wax whilst covering it with brown paper will not work as this wax is made to get stickier when heated rather than just get softer and stick to the brown paper. I think the deposit on our rented flat is at stake over this so any suggestions will be gratefully received!!! I await your responses! Thanks in advance...

If it gets stickier when it gets hot, maybe try rubbing it with an ice cube to see if it will harden, and then scrape it with a knife?

    Hi there

I have done that ssoooo many times..
I scrape off what i can, use a very cool hairdryer to soften it and scrape as much off as i can, then a very cool iron, place brown paper over the wax and dab with the iron...the paper should soak most of it up

  • You could also iron over some kitchen towel with a cool iron if you have no paper bag or wax paper.....................make sure you don't melt the carpet though like my husband did lol silly sod!!:p

  • Hah, I did this today too, what is going on with us all lately! Shame I have no iron, so have to make do with the hairdryer trick. :(

Hi, was having a bit of a hair removal session last night.

stupidly I knocked my wax heater over and I'm now left with half a pot of Rio warm wax on my bedroom carpet !

If there anyway that I can remove it from my carpet ?

    Any suggestions greatly received

    Many thanks

Put brown paper - the bags from fruit and vegs shops are great - over the wax and press with a warm iron. It'll take a few goes, but should lift it off :D

Hmm very tricky one. Wax would normally be removed using something oil based or if I remember rightly surgical spirit. But of course on a carpet both this could be a big big problem.

The previous persons post might work, although of course hair removal wax is super sticky stuff.

I'll be honest that I have no idea how likely these two are to work, but maybe a carpet washer if you can get ya hands on one, or a steam cleaner might help lift some of it.

But maybe try the paper and slightly warm iron first to see how much you can get out.
