    Thanks for the suggestions.
    Tried the iron and brown paper idea - not bad but still quite a lot of sticky residue left.

    Me thinks, I may need a new carpet.

  • I once did the same thing with a large (lit) candle on a new carpet. I tried a similar thing, but used a few layers of kitchen towel with a warm iron. It worked a treat. I just scraped up as much as I could first.

    you can buy wax cleaner, which will remove the wax. As above it is oil based. You may be able to buy from boots in their electrical beauty department as a replacement item. If not google if you hair a sallys hair and beauty near or any other hair and beauty wholesaler.
    What colour wax and carpet do you have?
