Just to labour the point, my butcher only sells British bacon.
Danish bacon is generally reared under offensively bad welfare conditions ...... sorryWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
this thread has been invaluable to me. I have tried to ignore the ethics of buying organic/local/fairtrade due to the fact we are on a very tight budget.that said this week I have thrown away some of tescos sausages and ham due to the contamination scare. I have just cooked some value frozen minced beef.- it looks disgusting it is oily and grey  and doesnt smell too good either. I have thrown it away.
the conclusion?
I would rather have less meat from a reputable source than the cheap carp they sell at the supermarkets. yes its cheaper but i must have wasted several pounds throwing stuff away anyway.
so from now on its the local farm shop for me0 -
Glad its helped.
I will be buying meat locally and butchers and farm shop from now on as i want to know where it all comes from and that the animals have had nice life as after all they giving up their lives for our dinner so we should show our animals and food some respect.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
