Such a shame when someone gets offensive - it doesn't help and definately isn't necessary!

First of all he is a very very young pup -6 weeks is far too young to be away from his mama.
Please take him to the vet to sort out the fleas and get advice on injections and worms etc - keep him in your arms when going - don't put him on the vets floor or near any other dogs in the waiting room.
Ok, as for the crying - when we got our Basset Hound we put in the crate to help settle him in 2 football socks stuffed with other old socks and put them under his bedding in his crate. We also were advised to put a small alarm clock under there because this represents his mums heartbeat (we were fortunate that he settled in straightaway so didn't bother). Get him a plush toy like a teddy or a dog as a best mate for him.
Please bear in mind that this lil tyke has been through a lot already and is probably very distressed about been away from his mum and brothers and sisters. He's overwhelmed of his new surroundings and most of all he's FRIGHTENED!! He needs lots of cuddles and attention, BUT please do not put him in the bedroom with you, as this is making a rod for your own back. At night leave him in the kitchen or where his crate is - that is his bed and he must learn that at night that is where he sleeps.
As for putting him in his crate, try it in stages at first - 5 mins at a time to start with. Put him in and lock the door at first and ignore him but stay in the room. He will make a fuss at first but will eventually come to realise that this is is own space and probably go to sleep. Build this up nice and gradually at some stage leaving him alone and he'll know that he gets nice and cosy in there and can play/chew n snooze and you will always return to let him out. This will eventually come in handy at night because you'll find if you lock him in it on a night then he will learn self control as he will not soil his bedding. Also the crate is handy if he gets a little out of hand and naughty. I put my pooch in his as a time out or naughty chair :rolleyes:
Please be patient with him, you are his new mama and he needs time to adjust. Good luck - hope this helps

I stand by my comments - & can not beleive someone is actually questioning why a 6 week old puppy would make a noise??

Thank you very much for your reply. I will follow what you have said, he knows exactly what he wants and when I have left him to pop to the shops or take my LO to nursery he is fine and sleeps the whole time, not a peep out of him but he's a staffie and staffies chew so I would rather he was crated on a night when left for 7 hours lol!
