There is nothing worse than that "I want out" speech. It made my body run cold and my stomach sink.
People should never say something like that unless they are prepared to walk out the door and never come back. My ex did it about 10 times to me. Only when I would be seriously taking him up on it and looking for somewhere to live would he cook me dinner, buy me a gift and change his mind.0 -
I had that problem in my last flat pengu, it was some thermowotsit and not hard to fix but always had BG cover so not sure what it would have cost otherwise.Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

The pilot wont light - it has been a bit dodgy for a couple of weeks (it is a very old boiler) but usually when we reset it, it all bursts into life again. It is completely dead though tonight - nothing happening even when reset. In the words of my OH its a piece of *****!
Does it sound terminal? x

Can I join the dying boiler club? Ours is 19 years old - is that a record?! It must be costing us a fortune in extra fuel bills. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

When we struggled to light our boiler, well, it would light whilst you held in the button, but when released, the light went out.
1) we found out that the button wasn't releasing all the way and it needed a wiggle
2) we also had problems with the nozzle that the gas comes out of, it was blocked...OH decided to clear it and we ended up with a flame thrower  (don't try that one at home kids)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Thanks everyone! I will have a go at the sucking Z - see how that goes!
Have switched it off and I am going to leave it for a couple of hours. Hopefully it will forget its not working and come back on later. Think we are going to have to bite the bullet in the new year and get it replaced. That means borrowing off Dad and then he wont let us pay him anything back and then I feel like a leech. I know its a nice thing that I can borrow off my parents but it somehow makes me feel worse if that makes sense.
Im waffling now but in my defence I have been waiting 3 hours for NHS Direct to phone me back and I am in pain!
