    Morning all,

Have got DGDs 1&3 today, DD2 has gone to Galway for the weekend and I am looking after them until DDIL2 arrives home from work...10 month old is having a nap and 'almost, almost 4 year old' (february) is playing with her dolls who live here and half watching tv at same time....am expecting fireworks at some stage as they are being so good.

Ordered oil yesterday and it is costing me almost €300 less than when I bought in May...but should have ordered earlier as we ran out sometime during the night and it is freezing here.

Made some marmalade this morning...lemon, pineapple and clementine, will post recipe if it tastes ok...just over a pound in what I made but it was so quick, I hate standing over vats of jam waiting for them to get to setting point...made stew for dinner at same time so feel that my halo is very bright to-day....will probably do nothing else.

Hugs to all who are ill or in need of one for whatever reason, welcome to newbies and congratulations to all who are celebrating.

  • My Lakeland parcel has just come!

I have been relatively well behaved, well, almost well behaved, well, better behaved than evil cat. I bought presents from Lakeland because they are less common and therefore more likely to be a treat.

:o I have a spare present due to miscalculation. Wondering who I haven't bought for yet that doesn't need a lovely personalised gift - Sister in law, wannabe Mrs Clooney, from little bear. Perfect. She refuses to eat leftovers! Leftover present, could be worse.

Also indulged myself with some lock n lock containers. Completely unnecessary. Totally frivolous. I love them. Also they are quite practical and look so much better than the old formula tins I was using, also formula tins will rust on the inside unless the contents are absolutely dry, not dry like dried fruit  And when we move house I will not have to worry about flour cascading everywhere. And also little bear gets a great cardboard box to play with!

Sometimes I realise how shallow I am.

Well, second lot of washing in, little bear fed as he is willing to have, not sure what to do next but have an ominous foreboding that it may be ironing.

    Hugs to all.

Edited to say, big coughing fit after chasing little bear round the room - may be putting feet up.

    Correct sistercas here's the reciepe

    Bounty Balls Recipe

These taste just like the brand name sweet and are very easy to make.

    200g condensed milk
    100g desiccated coconut
    8oz icing sugar (approx)
    8oz chocolate
    1. Mix the milk and coconut together.
    2. Add enough icing sugar to form stiff dough which will form balls.
    3. Form small balls and leave to set on a tray until all the mixture is used.
    4. Place the tray into a fridge to set (over night is best).
    5. Coat the ball in melted choc and leave to set.
    6. Setting time minimum 4hrs.
    Alternative method:
line a tray with greaseproof and spread the coconut mix into the tin leave until set (instead of rolling them out into balls). When set turn out and cut up into chunks. then cover with the chocolate.

    Or
line a tray with greaseproof and spread the coconut mix into the tin leave until set. When set pour over the melted chocolate and leave to set, then slice.

They are really good and soooooo easy to make, mum and dad came over today to take me to Mr T's ....tried them and liked and took some for my sister to try , i would have bought some more cond. milk if i had known....

Popped into Mcd's to treat DD2, and guess who waltzed in DH :rotfl:, we both had that look of 'oh sugar i shouldn't be here' :rotfl:for a Yorkshireman who says their food is garbage he seemed to know what to order :rotfl::rolleyes::D.

Sun is shining lovely now, hope same goes for everyones else too, and that all the white stuff has gone.

    Moilere - Excellent News...:T

Good suggestion honey and I do do that. For their respective birthdays this past year I gave them vouchers for a shop in Exeter where they swap and buy their consul games, so haven't actually just given cash. Would still prefer to give them a real gift to unwrap if that makes sense.

Thank you for all the hugs and supportive comments re my nephews - redruby - yes I am afraid my sister is only too aware of what she is doing. I know this sounds odd but I think a part of her was jealous of how close my eldest nephew and I were, so this whole situation suits her down to the ground.

Last nights dinner ended up being chinese egg fried rice and frickadillens from Lidls. Was totally delicious! I love egg fried rice and it was nearly as good as our local takeaways!

Started clearning things off my desk as the pile of papers etc was taller than my coffee mug! Had a pile of catalogues full of yummy things I can't afford that I was keeping to look through but took a deep breath and threw them all away!

    ok all organised now

I wish all you lovely people the very best wishes for various problems. I guess as I get used to posting in the daily thread I will get to know you all.

Well DH is off to his exam, Mother is off visiting. I have baked a batch of cheese scones which turned out like cheese biscuits for some reason  however they taste absolutely wonderful with butter and are light and flaky. I batch of Twinks hobnobs have been baked of course, made with banana and cinnamon this time. I forgot I had bought some Tripe at the butchers ..now dont all wrinkle your nose up at the thought ;) I love it done with onions so that will be my dinner, I had a look at the amount of stroganoff leftover and there isn't really enough for 3 so I will have the tripe .

Vaccuming is done, bins emptied, cat litter changed and that is all I am doing today. Will take my pain meds and curl up with a wonderful book DH bought me but havent had the chance to open till last night. It is called In the Land of the Invisible Women and is about a woman who goes to work in Saudi Arabia as a doctor and the culture shock she faces even though she is a muslim. DH thought I would like it as we both worked in the same hospital she went to so it is fun reading about many the same places we know.

Meanmarie your marmalade sounds wonderful, it is a thing I have never tried making
Moliere I am glad ther wee one is getting better
Pippa Ouch, I hope it all works out with your houseguest and isn't for too long. Sometimes it can really strain relationships post transplant as the whole family dynanic changes.

Hi everyone and sorry I've been so 'not here' lately! I've felt a bit 'out of it' thinking about the LO. Thanks for all the prayers for her; we've heard nothing more today so we are keeping our fingers crossed that she is over the worst. She had a virus that usually progresses to pneumonia but, with the condition she has (spinal muscular atrophy - a form of motor neurone disease), her little lungs can't cope, so the hospital have been desperately trying to prevent the pneumonia setting in. They have kept her sedated which is a blessing but it's awful for her mum and dad to see her like that. The doctors really are doing all they can.

Well, DH is home for the afternoon and has decided to paint the window frames outside - they've needed doing for ages so I'm glad he's made a start.

It's freezing cold here but lovely and sunny with perfect blue skies. I've got sheets on the line which look as if they are drying well. I've cleaned through the house today, made some bread and some of Aussie's Impossible Pie for pudding. Dinner will be a fry-up at DH's request.

I had a clean bill of health after my cholesterol test the other week - everything they tested came back as normal so, obviously, I'm pleased about that. I'm sure the money-saving cooking-from-scratch is responsible for that!

Well, I must say welcome to so many newbies on here. I hope you all like it here!

(((Hugs))) to everyone who needs one.

Pippa - I hope everything works out for you with your new guest.

MSD - (((hugs))) for your nephews.

Will try and call back later - I'm sure DH will find plenty of reasons to interrupt me now he's here! I did offer to move my car before he started and he said he didn't need me to; five minutes later, after I'd started some work, he asked me to move it!

Will keep you all informed of the LO.

    Hello again

Mioliere - hope the news continues to be positive.

Well once again today things havnt turned out the way I planned as the boiler has stopped working again! B Gas are coming tomorrow between 8 and 1. Am very frustrated but happy that we have the homecare so dont have to worry about large repair bills.

Woolworths does have up to 50% off - most things were 10 & 20% off but did get 30% off of some crackers. It was completely mad in there and a little sad too iykwim. M&S didnt do their eat in for £10 this week so saved money there.

Havnt done anything else today but have convinced myself that as I am still not quite fully recovered from my cold that it is best if I have a day off today. Will go for it tomorrow.

Have decided that for the first time in ages we are having a takeaway tonight - DD has hardly eaten all week due to her flu so will have Chinese which is her favourite.

ESSEX, I went to Woolies and there was a doorman only letting people in when some came out, the queue was 30 people long  No way was I joining it. Got some YS meat in Sainsbugs, the huge beef joint, leg of lamb and leg of pork were half price so thats xmas sorted, unfortunately DH insists on a turkey for Xmas day. Also got a chick (quorn) and mushroom pie for £1.39 I couldn't make it for less. Another veggie meal ticked off

Got home and had to light the log fire, I was chilled through. Hope you're all keeping warm.

Anyone seen WHATATWIT lately? hope she's ok

MIOLIERE, My prayers continue for you and yours, I hope little one continues to improve, I can't imagine what you all are going through. God Bless x

    Afternoon all

Hugs to all the poorlies or those who just want one....cos I'm feeling generous. :D

Popped to town with a friend this morning but didn't get as far as woolies to see the sale (probably a very good job as there's nothing I need). I did however get tempted by the half price sale in "mark one" - got both DD's a christmas outfit each - I was waiting to see if I could pick something up closer to Christmas but figured half price was pretty good. (2 skirts, 2 tops, 2 cardi/shrugs/2 prs leggins - all for £23)

Used my clubcard vouchers towards my turkey and a gorgeous huge chunk of brisket, feel a lot more organised now I have my meat. I would love to buy from a local butcher but we only have one and I never like the look of his meat.

Tree will be going up either tomorrow or Sunday, DD2 was taking part in a carol singing competition tomorrow but the music teacher is poorly so they've cancelled....I did suggest that some of us parents could organise it instead but was met with a stoney silence.....ah well.

Chicken curry from the freezer for DH and I tonight - DD's have HM fishcakes - they've both asked for HM coleslaw too so shall go make some up.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

    Evening all,

Very cold here, I have put the heating on for a couple of hours, my feet are like ice.

Kathy I am glad to hear that the little one is a bit better, I will continue to think of her and her family xx

DD and I nipped into woolies, but not much there, , nothing we wanted anyway, so we came back empty handed.

Just waiting for OH to get in, and will then start to cook, I have the chicken marinading in the fridge, wont take long to cook.

Its wine night tonight  , and celebrity final :j .

Got dd's school shirts on a boil wash, and will do the darks after, and hang them on the airer, will only have OH horrible work stuff to do tomorrow then.

Have good evenings all, and keep warm xx
