Morning everyone. Not much to report today, a cold dry day here. Not sure if ebay can be considered osing or not but I managed to list 25 items on e-bay last night, I'm determined to pay for as much as Christmas by doing things like this. In work today, will have to hoover when I get home, then dads taxi comes into force for the lads guitar lesson. The other week his teacher had me playing bass guitar, well I say playing, it wasn't exactly tuneful, while my son & the teacher strummed along to some song.

    Morning all :hello:

Well Friday at last and another day off for me :jI am having to use up holidays before our year end on dec 31st or I will lose them. Reverbe I hope it all works out ok for you today hun ~hugs~

I should really get torn in about the housework but my back is killing me today, I had spinal surgery a few months ago and some days I feel I can barely move. This is one of them. I think the cold weather really makes a difference. So I guess I will just sit with my heat pad on for a while

DH is off to sit an exam today at 12md so I will have a couple of hours of quiet and mother is off to visit a friend. The birthday dinner went down a treat and I have enough soup left for lunch today and tomorrow with HM bread, there should also be enough stroganoff left for dinner if I serve it with rice.. The fillet steak that DH spent a fortune on was rescued and 3/4 of it is now in the fridge which will be roasted on Sunday and I think there is enough to do maybe another 3 meals after that. Went into the butcher this morning and ordered 2 ox tongues for next week. Will cook one and pop the other in the freezer. One tongue will last us the best part of the week with just mum to feed as she doesnt like it so I got some hough and a nap bone (sp) for her and will make potted hough which she just loves, that will also last her most of the week. I can also make some stovies if she gets fed up with that by popping a couple of the small dishes of hough in it.

    Happy friday everyone

Hi all - I'll come back later and read properly but thought I'd let you know what we have heard from the little girl's Nan, who has been with her since Tuesday; you've all sent such good wishes and prayers, for which we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

She was not expected to make it on Tuesday night and no appropriate bed could be found for her anywhere in the country. She is still in an adult ICU ward but now has the most fantastic consultant who has been able to get the treatment right; she is now breathing for herself with only a little help and things are looking slightly more optimistic.

(((Hugs))) to all of you and thanks, once again, for your thoughts and prayers - they mean such a lot and really do help.

thats GREAT news:j I will continue to pray x
  • Today I am going to try Impossible pie. This site is a wonderful resource for recipes. I sent in a weetabix cake (recipe from here) to dear heart's work, which got rave reviews. However they did make a request for a banana cake (recipe from here) which I had previously sent. I feel very flattered. It is all very easy to do as well. I do live in fear of the day someone requests something with pastry. I have had reasonable success in the past with a souffle but I tremble at the thought of pastry.

Mind you, my late grandmother made pastry that could be used as a door stop. Funnily enough, her scones were lovely.

I have three bananas that are looking very elderly. I daren't wait until Sunday to make the banana cake and so I am torn between trying to freeze the bananas or making the banana bread and freezing that. Hmm. I only sent in the banana bread because I couldn't bear to waste the bananas and I don't actually like bananas myself.

Other than that, I have little inclination to anything OS today. My back is aching, my head is aching and my tummy is worse than a swamp dragon's. Tea will be something tinned.

But next week I shall be posting on two OS regular threads - I saw the documentary on Karen Matthews, looked round the state of the house and decided that I needed to get a bit more domestic goddessed before little bear got a protection order on him. So I shall be joining flylady. I am confident that they will be kind on there.

Little bear has been sneezing all morning, which for me is a sign that his cold is drying up. Poor little bear is very snotty but I am not currently mourning the absence of medised as he is looking so much better.

Hugs to all, especially Lesley and Mioliere's little friend. It is so hard at this time of year.

I dont mind really but they have 3 yes 3 houses, 1 is rented out, SIL's son lives in another (paying no rent, but BIL pays the mortgage) and they live in the 3rd, which was his, all bought and paid for before they got together.

  • Hi:j

    Hope everyone is well.
Just popped on to say thank you to D&DD and Taplady for their messages of understanding about DS and his autism and receptive language problems. It was really heartwarming to know that others know what it is like so thank you:T

Moliere lovely to hear little one is a little better and a bit more stable, is still in my thoughts.
Taplady so sorry to hear the news about Lesley, it must be so hard for everyone close to her. Maybe xmas could be brought forward if the family want that. When I nursed at the hospice we did that for many patients. I think it is a painful thing to go through for the family and friends but after the pain and sorrow has gone they find they have that xmas memory to look back on with comfort. They are all in my thoughts too.

OS wise am making Minestrone soup for later and am busy cleaning house ready to put decs up tomorrow:snow_laug can`t wait!

hugs to everyone who needs them
