OS Daily Friday 5th December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 5th December. It is is an ‘over the garden fence’ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome; please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning peeps

Friday at last thank goodness and my weekend off - it does seem to have taken an age to come around this time. I`ve been MIA for a couple of days as i`ve been so busy but have been managing to have a read every now and again to keep up.

Mioliere - I felt so sad to hear about your cousins little girl, her parents must be devastated. I have been keeping them in my thoughts.

Squiddly, Diva & Betheebee - thankyou for the information about the Christmas trees, we may have time to have a look for one this weekend.

Taplady - Lesley is in my thoughts, ((((HUGS)))) for you and your dear friend.

Yesterday i got up and cleared 3 inches of snow off the car to get to work which took an age and half scared me silly, today i`ve looked out and you would never have known it
was there, it feels a lot warmer too so i may be able to turn the heating down a notch.

Today MrS is also off and his car has to go across town to be serviced, we have Dad`s shopping to do and a few other errands so i`ll probably leave the Christmas cards and festive bits until tomorrow. I was very organised well in advance but as usual w*rk got in the way and now i`m behind
OS wise the bm should be beeping soon and the dw has just finished, the wm is also on and i need to make a move and start some chores.

(((HUGS))) for Mustangsal, Tristan and anyone else who would like one, welcome to chrisbethany, mudgekin and oystercatcher  and anyone else that i`ve missed.

Ivyleaf - Hope that you are feeling beter today

Mummysaver - Hope that the girls are better today.

Have a fantastic Friday everyone.

SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Morning Sunnyday & all to follow,

It's been scorching here today. Note that's higher than saying it's hot. :D Had an awful nights sleep and woke up at 4.45am from the stupid kookaburra's. Wish I had a gun some mornings. :p Of course couldn't get back to sleep so I'm shattered. Wrapped all my presents and sorted out the local cards. I received 2 big letters from 2 girlfriends so I feel obliged to write back with my card. I typed one out and will just change the name. :o

Going out for a meal tonight. Yippeee so no cooking . Got DGS all weekend. Mass went well yesterday. Someone brought their grandaughter so DGS & her played upstairs. Father Jim nodded for me to help with communion so I held the Chalice (cup) and just as I was handing out the wine DGS came thumping down the stairs telling everyone in a loud voice he needed to do a poo. :o  :D Don't you love 3 year olds.

Taplady Sorry to hear about Lesley.
Moiliere Such sadness when it's kiddies.

Well hope you all have a lovely day. <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning.

I was woken this morning to hail blasting the bedroom windows and winds whistling over the roof. I seem to have a small lake in the garden, that was not there before, so it is sure to be a soggy mess out there today.

I have the day off, so chores day. I have to clean out the hen house and I was going to put up some Christmas lights outside, but I am not going up a ladder in this wind.

I have heard they have 50% off in Woolworths today??? I am not sure if that is true as the Woolies website is down. I might have to check though as that could be very usefull if it is...

Tesco have some good wine offers on I saw last night. Some good white wines for £2.50 or so a bottle. Half price coffee too.

We are off out tonight to freinds for a meal. They have a hot tub, so I think it will be hot tub and wine among other things. I can live with that.

Well have a nice day, cheers

    Morning all

Up early again coughing and spluttering. At least the weather has warmed up a little. Well, no OS going on this weekend as I'm away in Manchester celebrating my birthday with a footie match!!! Will have plenty of time for shopping while up there so will still be looking out for bargains as I have a few more bits to get for Christmas. Didn't go in to work yesterday, felt too rough so I got all my Christmas cards written and stamped so thats a job I haven't got to come back to.

Off for a shower in a mo and we will be leaving around 9ish this morning. I spend too much time on the Net so my book reading has gone out of the window so I will be catching up with a couple of books on the journey up north so that will keep me out of mischief.

Have a good weekend all and see you next week.

In my calendar today - a gift basket :santa2: I think there's a bear in it, or it might be a pig - what do you think it is, sistercas? :rotfl:

Off to Morrison's then we're staying in til tea time. I'll let the piggies have the run of the kitchen this afternoon then a quick tidy up (I LOVE bleachable carpet, lol).

If it's not raining later, we'll be going to Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt. We'll eat before we go though, can't afford the entrance fee AND food  Though if they've got mulled wine I'll be having some :D

    Good Morning All

Chrisca - Happy Birthday:beer: Enjoy the footie.

No rain here at the moment thank goodness - we had enough yesterday. Didnt get half my plans done yesterday as the boiler decided to stop working, luckily have B Gas homecare and they came out yesterday afternoon and fixed it (we were lucky it was milder here yesterday).

Did get my presents wrapped and a list of the ones left to get, will order some online and get the rest at Lakeside monday.

This morning am off to local town to have a look in M&S food at their dine in for a £10. Will also pop into Iceland and see if they have any bargains. - Will look in Woolies N9eav - it will be busy if is 50% off.

DD went back to school yesterday after having flu her temperature was normal although was still coughing and sniffly should have kept her off as her class was made to do PE in the pouring rain. Even the teacher agreed that it wasnt ideal but apparantly there was no where inside for them to go. As a result her temperature is back up and I am fuming with the school. I must admit I forgot it was PE and I should have written a note but I would have thought the teacher would have had more sense. Anyway she is back at home today and I sent a snotty email to the school we will see what they come back with.

Anyway I need to get on - have a great Friday.

    Morning all,

First of all, Chrisca, have a great time, is it its your Birthday tomorrow ?, if so have a good time, and Happy Birthday  .

Aussie I love the story of your dgs, made me lol, a good start to the day x

Sharp frost here again today, off to work, I finish at 2 so not too bad, will come home and prepare the dinner, put a wash on then pick up dd, she wants to have a look at wollies, N9eav, they do have a sale this weekend, up to 60% off, starts today worth a look I think.

Dinner tonight will be chicken Zorba, which I think Nelski passed on to me, will report back.

Need to have a quick tidy round before work, after today I only have 6 days to work before Christmas :j , they were just talking on the news about a xmas tree shortage this year, and advising you if you want a real one to get one quick  .

Hugs to Lesley, Tristain, and Kathys little one xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all,

Happy Birthday to Chrisca (for today or tomorrow??) and
Belated Anniversary Greetings to Grannybroon for yesterday.

I giggled at the story of Aussie's DGS too - yep, you can always rely on kids.....Wish it was scorching hot here. Although no idea what it's actually like out yet, haven't looked!

I wasn't going to do our tree till next weekend (can't stand everything being up too early as I get fed up with it quickly!) but I might go & buy it this weekend so there's more choice. I want a real one potted with its roots still, so it can just stand in a sheltered area of the garden until I'm ready to bring it in.

Think I will have poddige with brown sugar for breakfast today, as I don't need to be leaving till 9ish, rather than the usual 8. And make a wrap to take to Uni (as I'm not paying £2.50 for one there!!!). Still contemplating dinner, maybe fish & chips (as we didn't have them last week in the end & the kids keep saying they fancy it too).

Then later & tomorrow need to hoover round, clear out some clutter & take a couple of bags of stuff to the charity shop too.

((((((((hugs))))))))) for all the poorlies or those who are sad, and special thoughts for those who need them.

    Morning Chums ,
another chilly one here in North Kent.brilliant day yesterday in M&S bought 6 really good presents and saved almost £30.00 on the total.Treated my eldest DD to Turkey from M&S so she won't have to buy one,Only one more present to buy now, and thats my youngest DD birthday present which I will buy tonight after college. Then I'm all done and only have to wrap them all up and address the cards. This will be done probably tomorrow .This afternoon I have history at college and then I am off to house-sit for my eldest DD and husband as they are going to London for a show and a meal and a hotel overnight stay. he needs cheering up after losing his job.Its part of my DD's birthday present and they had booked and paid for it two months ago. Her children are 18 & 15 and I'm there to keep the peace and be the 'responsible adult .My DGD Holly insists that I am NOT babysitting
Will probably take some cards along to write out tonight and save myself the job tomorrow.NSD today, and not much to buy in the way of food tomorrow .
<<hugs to those in need>> and I hope you all have a good Friday.
    Cheers JackieO xx

cold this morning but I am sure i will soon warm up as i have lots of cleaning to do
Tru I thinks its a bear in a basket ;)
DD1 fell going to school yesterday in the snow, she went with such a clatter that someone stopped in their car to help her up and collect all her stuff that had flown out of her bag. its a rural school on the edge of the pennines and should have closed due to the bad weather, it really wasnt safe to open and I am going to contact the school today and say so:mad: we hadnt realised how bad it was up there as we live in the valley and have to rely on the school for info.
Chrisca happy birthday to you:beer: have a lovely weekend
Tru enchanted christmas sounds lovely I am sure you will love it
    OS - house to clean
ironing to do (yet another mountain)
    washing to do

going to home bargains to see if I can find some stocking fillers
    hope everyone is ok
(((hugs/ prayers))) to those who need
