To be honest the seller actually says the game was purchased for 39.99 so why would someone pay an extra penny to take the risk of something going wrong?I would just go and buy one from game myself.

Here's the thing. If we all dodged eBays fees like this, there would be no eBay. Whilst we might all think they are a bunch of money grabbing  (which they are), we all need their service.

So whilst this person dodging his fees, might seem like he is sticking it to the man, in truth the only people he is sticking it to, is us legitamate sellers who have to pay to keep eBay running.

"Pay too keep eBay running" do you know how much they make every year ?

But why pick on this one guy, every search entry you look through will have thousands of auctions with these sort of postage costs and alot of them will be powersellers. Most people will try anything to avoid paying higher eBay fees.

Its Like saying, ebay arnt making enough so lets report these members so they can make much more money, im not encouraging anyoneto break any rules, but bending them is another thing. I could spend a lifetime reporting sellers like that, but there will always be thousands more, so were back to that same old argument on this site "sellers postage costs" - Just look at the total price and make up your mind, no need to turn into eBay detectives. He saving for money for himself and the end result wouldnt affect you the buyer either way, even us legitamate sellers (unless he doesnt refund on p&p of course).

Too many Real scammers on ebay to worry yourself about a sellers postage costs

    Yes it will!

If this dishonest seller doesnt go through with the sale then you will have no comeback with paypal or ebay - your spend will be under £15 and you have helped a sale go through avoiding the fees.

Ah, so that makes it OK then.

I'm not advocating anyone should report this person in question. All I am saying is that the assumption that it doesn't hurt anybody is wrong, because when people avoid paying their eBay fees, who do you think covers the costs of the servers that those auctions are run on, the administartion costs, etc.?

    It's not eBay.

As you might have read, I don't indulge in inflated postage costs, but I'm quite interested in the theory of this....

    what constitutes "unreasonable"?

As to collection by buyer, this is an option you can choose for collection, so not choosing it means that you can rightfully say that postage is the only acceptable method of taking delivery.

dh bought a cd from avalance records, turns out the one less than a mile from us had it in stock so they told us we could come pick it up BUT they would still charge us the postage fees  my dh told them to stuff themselves and made them post it to us, at least we got the padded envelope out of it to post someone elses buy in

Looks like it was against ebay rules as it seems to be pulled.

Yeah its gone but i say fair play to the seller if he states it really clearly in listing and refunds the whole lot if any problems(as im sure most good sellers would).
If it stops ebay making a bit of cash like they usually do good on him & if it saves him money good for him.Ebay takes aprox £80 a month from me & i dont charge postage like that but wouldnt report anyone who did(as long as bid price reflected the average price when totalled with P & P). Good for him!
