Disneystore

Already posted this elsewhere, but as I just had an argument with my mother over it, I wanted to rant here too

I'm a little bit peeved with the Disney Store!!

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a lightning McQueen Robe for my friends little boy....expensive enough as it is at £20. Got that in a size 3-4. Got a Bob the Builder one from Mothercare in size 2-3, and that was bigger than the one in Disneystore.....

If I had had the money I would have ordered the bigger one online in the first place, but the delivery charge is a whopping £4.95...no ta.....bigger one not in my local store though.....so go with the smaller as theoretically it should be the right size.

Since I got the one from Mothercare (a week ago) I've emialed and called Disneystore, and finally spoke to a nice girl today called Lynsey...thanks for you help...I had her ringing around all the stores I might go close to in the near future, thinking I could take a de-tour, but no luck. So now I have had to PAY for it to be transferred from one store to another, and that costs £5.90!!

Mothcare ordered the item and delivered it for free, and it was a lot cheaper too!!

I like moaning, and I think it's a moan-worthy cause.

  • It may be worth getting the garment measured to see if it is of the correct description - i.e, the size it is supposed to be.

If it isn't you would have a potential claim for a refund.
  • I saw your same post the other day in another part of the forum on here too

How do you know that it isn't the Mothercare one that's too BIG for it's stated size, and the Disney one is just right?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I agree pinkshoes, Mothercare might be too big?!

To be honest, shops vary - thats how it works! I think its tough I'm afraid!
  • They may vary, but there is a standard. If that standard is not adhered to, then the item is not of that standard and therefore not as described.

I should have mentioned those comments above - thatthe other garment may be the wrong size

Disneystore clothes are smaller! I've bought several of these robes over the years for my child (but only when they're 50%off!) & I always have to get at least two sizes larger than my child is in other stores!

Is there a standard? Surely thats a British Standard. That's not born out by my clothes shopping experiences, and lots of clother are made in taiwan for example
Dont think the op should have to pay the delivery charge though
When you find out which store has it,why not try ringing the Manager and persuade her to send it to you

I would've thought there would be a standard. US, UK and European sizes should be the same everywhere (if clearly labelled).
No signature for me. Too skint :P

Since when have UK sizes been the same anywhere you shop? For women, a size 12 for example may well fit in one shop but it is well known that a size 12 may not fit exactly the same in other shops, some differing by quite a lot so you'd need a completely different size. A man who fits a medium jumper from one store, might find he needs a large in another store as the sizing guidelines are different. I would have thought it would be the same with childrens clothing, so what size fits one child from one shop might need to be different from another shop. Unless an item of clothing is labelled by actual size, eg 32 inch waist, 32 inch leg, then the age or size given is a guideline really. How can you guarantee all clothes labelled age 3 will fit all kids aged 3, you can't - it's a guideline and different shops have different 'standards' for each size/age.

With regards to the charge for having it delivered to a store you can get to, I think this is reasonable, you've been advised of it and accepted, it won't be free for them to transfer (many stores have to transfer items by courier for example) so personally I think it is fair. good on Mothercare for absorbing the cost themselves but not all stores do, just like not all online stores charge for delivery but some do, you know in advance before paying and accept it if you want the item.
