Re: Ten Pound Xmas Bonus From UK Government

Re: Ten Pound Xmas Bonus From UK Government

I know a friend of mine whos on UK Long Term Disability Benefit £102:00 Uk a week I think if that the right name for it the UK government pay a lousey £10.00 UK Sterling Christmas Bonus for the last 15 years its never increased with inflation talk stingy.

In Southern Ireland they give people on Disability Double Money ie the equivalent of £204.00 UK Sterling Christmas week BUT people like my friend do not qualify as they must have had a job for 3 months in Republic of Ireland before becoming

going on Irish Disability.

Coupled with this the UK Sterling /€ Euro has gone down steeply and the rate of exchange the Irish Social Welfare is poor they set it once every 3 months.

it`s even worse than you think, the £10 xmas bonus was introduced in 1972,although ALL those who get this years bonus will get an additional £60 in the new year

Thanks for your reply where does it say this?
This is a Special One Off Payment Better than Nothing
you mean its been £10.00 Uk sterling since 1972 that makes it worse considering London is the Richest City In The World. :)

So Ireland and I think the Netherlands have the best Social Welfare Systems and the Dutch have a Monarchy too things are very different over there.
  • Is the £60 for all of us on DLA? I thought it was something they were giving to pensioners.

the actual wording and where it came from has been quoted in a couple of other threads on the topic, but yes everyone who qualifies for the 10 christmas bonus will get the 60 bonus too.

Ireland has a long history of paying good social security benefits. Unfortunately, that means they also have a long history of British spongers going over there to draw their benefits, so they're right to restrict qualification in some way.
