If you can, change your F4 payment option to direct debit and then if there is a problem with F4 (which I`m sure there won`t be)you can just cancel your DD.

This is pointless as they then go back to charging your card.

I tried that as my first option and it did not work. This was the reply from Nationwide:-

"We are unable to cancel a debit made using a Visa Debit card. Cancellation requests have to be made to the relevant company.

Most companies use what is called a 'Continuous Authority Merchant' number for these payments. Therefore, even if you cancel the card, the payment can still be taken from your account using the old number.

If you have contacted the company to cancel the regular payment, but a debit is still made the following month, then you need to contact our Visa Chargebacks department...."

To continue my saga, they said they would refund the two months overpaid, I thought at first they had done it. They had not, they charged me for another two months! After various threats the 4 months overpaid have been refunded.

    Check your statements.

I was talking about a Direct Debit not a debit card.

Thanks Alared, I could not see an option to do as you suggest when I signed up. The info below is taken from the sign on page today with only two options. Have they reduced the options? If there is a way round it please advise, then new customers can sign up and pay the way you suggest and have an easier way out.

Go to the F4 members area and log-in
    https://secure.ispserve.co.uk/customer/_agent/fast4/index.asp?exec=home

On the left hand side of the screen there are various options, one of them is "change billing"
Click on this and it should allow you to switch to DD.

Just a line to say that as there were recommends for Fast 4 on here, I have now signed on with them on dial up only, £6.99 a month, I have not checked my credit card account so will do tomorrow. So far it is nice to log on during the day which I could not do with my last provider, however, it sometimes, most times, takes about four dials before I get on to the net, it is very slow, but ok once you are on. When I spoke with their sales team before signing up and mentioned that you had to write if you wanted to resign from fast4
the lady on the sales team said that a phone call would suffice now, there is a free phone number somewhere in this thread. Best wishes and thank you to all those who helped me make up my mind, will keep you posted......Best wishes oap
Just out of curiosity what is the dial-up number they have given you, as I believe there is more than one. I have not had any problem with connection day or night for months now. But I have changed my payment to DD with the bank as this is easy to stop if you want to move on and Fast 4 ignore your cancellation advice. But at present I am staying put, especially with all the probleams that E7 customers are having.

  • Hi, I'm a first-time poster and wanted to know if anyone has queried Fast4's billing? I signed up to them a few months ago after recommendations from this thread. I have had occasional problems logging on but usually in the early evening and only for a few redials, but thankfully this hasn't happened too often. I've noticed recently though that their monthly billing is becoming more frequent. Their months seem to vary between 20 and 30 days. I need to get the evidence together from bank statements to query it with them but wondered if anyone else had had this? They're still cheap though!

Hi AnotherJools and welcome to MSE and the Telephone Boards icon7.gif

I am going to split this post from this thread and add it to another thread where billing problems regarding Fast4 are being discussed and hope this will help you find an answer to your problem.

I was billed twice in December - 3rd and 30th, and September - 6th and 28th, 2005. It would be interesting to know if you have been charged on those dates.

I have used Fast4 at home on the East Coast of Yorkshire and also at an address in the West Riding of Yorkshire. I never had any problems with connection in West Riding, but always had problems at home at a time when the kids would be at home, both before and after school.

This has happened to me twice. I think they try it on, but if you query and e-mail them with the dates, they will correct it. Just keep an eye on when they take payments in the future.
