    Hi Kiwichick,

Hang in there love, it'll be worth it in the end.

Food intolerance tests can be very expensive, and it's hard to make sure you're getting a reliable one done. The best way to do it at home is to cut wheat out of your diet completely for a period of time, and keep a diary of how you feel and what you notice. Eg, when dh first cut out wheat and most cows dairy (he only drinks goats milk, but will eat cows milk cheese occaisionally) his eczema and hayfever completely cleared up. If he reintroduces these foods they come back very quickly. I noticed that when I cut out caffeine I stopped getting headaches - and I was getting very very debilitating headaches 3 - 4 times per week !! I reintroduced black tea (as in normal tea rather than green tea) and have been fine - it was coke that was the main problem for me.

Give it a try and see how you feel.

PS - whilst you're in the first few days the more water you drink the quicker you'll flush out the toxins, so the quicker you'll feel better. If it gets really bad take a pain killer and have a bubble bath!!
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

    Hi Kiwichick

welcome to coffee hell! It'll pass soon honest. I've never touched the stuff since the almighty "hangover" I had after cutting it out. At first if I was tempted I just used to think if that's what it's doing to me when I'm not drinking it what on earth is it doing to me when I am?!! It was after about a month I suddenly realised that I hadn't had a "niggly" headache in a good 3 weeks and then the penny dropped as to what had been causing them.
It would be nice to have a "chat" somewhere, I want to lose a few pound but I don't want to diet so much as get my act together - most of my friends think I'm a bit odd when I say that but then again most of them can't understand why I cook from scratch rather than buy processed food :D It would make a difference to be able to talk to other OSer's trying to trim themselves down a bit!

oh yes - I'm all for the 'help ourselves along chats' :D

Tea was baked mushrooms stuffed with assorted veg sauteed in olive oil and balasmic vinegar, with some brown rice added to it. Then a satsuma and some peppermint tea. (The steak and mushroom pie I made for the rest was apparently flippin' gorgeous :))

kiwi - if you do drink lots of caffeine, then you are going to get 'withdrawal symptoms' but they will pass. Also, I've just read in my book, that when you've detoxed, you sleep better :D Yay to that, I say :D

    Hi all,

as this thread has moved into more of a discussion about help and support during the detox or weight loss regime, can I recommend that you all have a look at I wanna lose weight on the I wanna board. It is a very strong thread full of support from others who are in a similar situation. There is also a weekly weigh in (if you are brave enough to post!!)

Thanks to all of you for the input so far, it has made interesting reading, best of luck on your regimes!!
