I applied for a orange 2 year contract phone £25 month, nokia 6300 with free laptop via tesco. Got declined, tesco said credit check but dont know why and advised me to ring orange.

Rang twice, the first time I was on hold whilst they fetching reason then got cutoff. Second time operator said they dont have to tell me why saying I am rejected.

I am curious since my sister passed a credit check last week, she has had to default on a mortgage and 2 loans in the past year, has only just moved, has no landline and here electrol roll dont match, she passed.
Other sister passed and she has 2 CCJ's.

I have no CCJ's, no credit defaults, electrol roll matches, landline, at address over 3 years, had bank account 13 years. Failed with unknown reason. Also have a capital one credit card at current paying full every month. My credit report is clean.

You'll have failed the check with the agency they use (Exprion). They won't have told Orange why you failed (DPA) the only way to find out would be to request your credit file from Exprion themselves.

Jon I have my experien report right here (3 months old) shows current credit and all payments made on time.

If I understand things right Experion dont give a orange pass or fail they simply pass on requested info anyway and its orange who make the actual decision, as always with credit checks its the same scenario a passing the buck around.

grb55 ok will try that site.

They pass on a credit score. The 'pass value' if you like can vary depending on what Orange are doing at the time. If you try again you may very well get an acc. Or do what grb55 suggests and get a free laptop, Bargain !
  • my credit score is awful and I do have defaults and a CCJ and about 6 months ago I was approved for an Orange contract and a T-Mobile contract.

Chose Orange over T-Mobile, although it took me about 5 weeks to actually have the T-Mobile one properly cancelled strangely enough.
  • Ive found it tough recently. Actually I tried with orange, o2 and 3 and were turned down for all of them. I do have defaults but no CCJs and I already have a well maintained vodafone contract and credit card on there. The only one that passed me was vodafone.

Any idea why when I got my credit report I dont see my score then, I thought they supposed to divulge all info when asked.

Incidently O2 accepted me. But they turned down my sister, its a funny old world. As she can get orange.

Dont apply for too many products that require a credit check, as it leaves a footprint and it can actually damage your credit profile!!!!
