I got the first letter today from Parking Eye for parking over the 2 hours limit at my local morrisons on 25/8. I can prove I was shopping as I have a statement I spent £140 that day in store. I plan on ignoring the letter but I do my weekly shop there, so if they notice, could they clamp me? Should I stay away?
    Any help is appreciated.
They can't legally clamp anyone as they may well have the correct car but they cannot know if its the correct driver (there's other legal reasons as well). I would think a very stiff letter to Morrisons, including a copy of the letter and your till receipt, might help. They have been know to get them cancelled if they think they are going to lose a good customer. Remember never say "I"
    always "the driver".

You really need to pay this before the matter goes any further.

You reallly to stop telling lies. Why should anyone pay?

    Oh you again!
Not thought of a better or funnier one yet?

(There is something of a rather better 'tradition'. It's called the LAW! LOL)

The great British motoring tradition demands that order be maintained on and off the road.

If you receive a ticket, you have done something wrong. Payment is your first priority.

Pugilism is a great British tradition, being a lickspittle like you isn't.

Another great British tradition is that since Magna Carta landowners have not been exempt from the laws of the land so the rule of law trumps lanlords made up rules.

  • Hi guys,
need some advice really.. my dad recently got a unfair parking fine, he was at the local gym which is on a aspects park with various other things like a cinema and a chinese. He parked in a perfectly fine spot with no markings or signs to say otherwise, he then recieved a letter to say this is the man who owns the chinese shops spot and parks here every night. He took pictures of the spot that clearly had no markings and sent it away refusing to pay. Theyve since wrote back to say he still has to pay. what shall we do?
    thanks
  • IGNORE. Check all the other posts regarding private parking and you will see that in 99.999% of the cases its the same message.

  • Several years ago when I was less savvy than I now am, I was clamped at the back of Oxford Playhouse on what looked like a free for all gravel carpark.
In addition to the clamp, there was a ticket with a phone number for the guy to come with the clamp release plus demand for £70.
The guy pointed out a few handpainted signs dotted around the area, not visible from where I had parked, and a sign with very small writing at the entrance.
It was clear I wouldn't have deliberately mis-parked because parking on a nearby yellow line would have cost me £30 back then.
Anyway I paid a cheque to get released and looking back, doh, all I had to do was stop the cheque (cost at Lloyds, tenner) and let them come and get me if they thought they had a case (which of course they didn't.)
If anyone gets caught out like this, being clamped in a poorly signed area (one might almost suspect a deliberate trap) pay by cheque and phone your bank to stop the cheque as soon as you get out of there.
  • Unfortunately most people don't use cheques now and ppc's normally insist on cash as even slugs like them have worked this out.

  • OK, I would say, call the police then, if trapped in that situation, or it will be more trouble than it's worth to get your money back.
There must be a law against them clamping your vehicle in a poorly signed area, where the police officer can see how the whole setup is a trap as it certainly was, and might still be in that Oxford location.
