I recently received a parking ticket - i was wondering whether this would have an effect on my car insurance in the future

and also whether the ticket is linked to my name?

I need a CRB check soon and was wondering whether this would pop up?

The usual advice. Just ignore. It's not a fine and the blue badge scheme does not apply to private car parks. You have done nothing wrong and you have not broken any laws.

Seconded, please be reassured and in particular get familiar with what sort of rubbish letters they will send you, see this thread & all links:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2214803

Forewarned is forearmed, each letter can be happily ignored in the absence of actual sealed Court papers - which won't arrive. Live your life and just collect the letters to show the scam to friends, that's what I do with mine.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • Take note of the above posts, it is good advice. If you become worried by any threatening letters post back here for reassurance.

There is an article in the "Money" section of today's Times naming and shaming companies that target disabled and elderly people with their products, such as mobility scooters and adjustable beds. Perhaps private parking companies could be added to that list.

From reading on here it seems that some elderly people, when they receive private parking tickets, get really frightened with all that talk of court proceedings and bailiffs and pay up. This is because they grew up in a different era when you could usually trust the correspondence that drop through your door, and there weren't all these sorts of scams around.

  • Thanks for the advice, not that I was losing any sleep but getting a little worried as the letters do look official-guess that's their scare tactics..

I shall be totally ignoring any letters unless a court letter pops up, even then as the car park is a member of the BPA i'll enjoy defending myself in court as they did not have any sign-age at the entrance to the car park...a requirement by the BPA!!!
  • Don't hold your breath about court, mostly its a wet dream on their part.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

The BPA is just a club organised by the parking companies, their "rules" mean b***** all. Not that it makes any difference, they wont be going near a court.

An offshoot of the BPA is The Institute of Parking Professionals. I wonder who it is aimed at, surely not the thugs who patrol private car parks?
