Thanks for that - I'll have a go at making them soon.0

I was hoping to do mushy peas with tonight's dinner but when I just go the box out it said you had to soak them for 12-16 hours and I had thought it was only 6. Is there any way to speed up the soaking time by soaking them in boiling water or anything?Jane

You could do a "hot soak". Bring the peas up to the boil in a pan, then take them off the heat and leave to soak. I think it takes about an hour, but as you have quite a while until this evening you could leave them longer, then cook as normal later on.0

However tempting it is to say 'open the tin, pour into pan, simmer for a few minutes'

Hi npsmama,
There's an older thread that should help so I've added your post to it.

I buy packets of Batchelors Quick Soak dried peas. Soak for 2 hours then cook for about 30 mins. Yum.
No idea about the freezing I'm afraid.

Yes you can freeze cooked mushy peas.
I do a huge panful at a time and then freeze in small containers, mmmmmOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Hadn't thought of doing that! Thanks.
We love mushy peas but there's only 2 of us and a full pack is way too many (well we could, but the consequences would be dire). Might even be worth my while doing a couple of packs in advance so that they are already cooked for future use as well. :T
