hi,
I think I have completely shut down to everything. my essay still isnt done and i have exams starting in 12 days which Ive done barely nothing towards.
i just cant cope anymore with things, i cant think and i cant see how any of it is relevant to the question. yesterday i tried and tried but still couldnt get it together. ive sat here all morning and i havent done a thing.
i dont know what to do. i dont know if they would let me defer or what. they really didnt want to let me back as it was but i cant see what i can do. i know i can make good stuff but just not at the moment.
i spoke to the smaritans last night and they were great. they said its not the be end and end all but it certainly feells like it is, three years completely wasted.

Hi Jen,
What course are you doing?? And how far are you into it?
I've actually decided to leave my uni and go back another time if I feel I need to.. right now I'm just not getting it, for me anyway, but it's different for everyone I guess
chin up, you've clearly got writers block, something will happen and you'll be on your way, I promise :P

Psychology, irony eh ... 3rd year
this is already a repeat year. the essay is due tomorrow.

is it a 3 year degree?? if it is, just think, you're so close
I'd just sit down with a relavent book and read for an hour or so, then re-visit the essay, instead of sitting with it infront of you, thats just too intimidating and won't drive you to do it. or give yourself say 45minutes for lunch, or a bubble bath and chill out for a bit, then return to the work and see if it helps?Destash Challenge: 0/100

yes, 3 years .... i so wanted to do well now im heading for a crap degree.
its journals and none of them state anything clearly as the whole issue is so unclear ... ive tried that so many times. i just cant seem to snap out it.
i cant believe im wasting it all away like this

What's the essay question?0
-
Ok, there is no problem with the topic being unclear - that's the first thing to remember. Degree level work is more about your ability to take all the differing views and put them together to form some sort of an argument. You don't have to come down one side - it is perfectly acceptable to argue it is unclear.
Don't panic as that will make your block worse, speaking as someone who knows these things!
You may not come up with anything brilliant in the time you have, so maybe you need to accept you will have to do what you can with the time you have left?
How many words is it? Is this the personality one?0 -
the question is What can twin and adoption studies tell us about the heritability of human personality?
Its about 1,500 words. ive never had something be so difficult before, the task isnt but it is IYSWIM. Ive written essays in 2-3 days and done ok in the past ... but i cant even remember the arguement when im trying to write, it just slips away from me.

Hi
Isn't this just the nature versus nurture debate?
write one para on the debate and the points in it
write 2 paras on research that shows nature [from twin research]
write 2 that shows nurture [from adoption research]
write your conclusion, which is shown from the research that it is a mix of both and has never been shown to be one or the other.
250 words per para.

So you need about 4-5 points then - or that's what I'd work on for an essay of that length.
Are there any common themes emerging from the journal articles?0 -
