Hi, I am completely new to this so be easy
.
I have decided to start a diary as i had my LBM about 2 weeks ago.
A bit about me... I am a newly wed and have a credit card with £4900 on it. My OH has debt as well but i am going to concentrate on mine at the mo as we have seperate accounts and a joint account which we use to pay the bills.
I am goin to be 30 in July and will prob think about starting a family in the very near future, so i really want to be debt free before that happens.
After i pay all my bills every month I am left with about £700, which is loads of money to me, so how come i have the debt???
I spose we spent a lot of money when we got married in July. We had saved a lot for the wedding but towards the end things were going on the credit cards!!
So i intend to throw as much as i can every month to the credit card to get it paid off. I will use this diary to keep me focused
.
Any advice would be great.
Also, how do you create a signature??

Hi and welcome!
I just wanted to say that I am in the same situation, in that I have roughly the same amount of debt as yourself (my loan was for our wedding, in fact) and hubby and I are both desperately trying to reduce our debts as soon as possible, as we both wish to start a family and just couldn't afford to do so at present. I'm 28 in March.
We believe we should have cleared all debts by the end of 2011/start of 2012, but obviously we're going to try and do our best to bring this date forwards.
We have virtually no money left over each month and it's a real struggle. We both have weekend jobs now, as well as working 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. It's not easy, but it's great seeing our debts reduce.
So, I just wanted to welcome you and say that you're not alone! With £700 left over each month you are laughing and will soon clear that debt, so well done you! Just make sure you pay as much off as you possibly can each month and keep checking the balance and it's such a pleasure to see it reducing so quickly.Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

:santa2: so it has been a while since i have logged on here.
Hope you had a nice Christmas.
Before Christmas i paid for some christmas pressies on my credit card  , but i have since paid them off and am about to pay off £206.02 off the cc now and that will leave me with a balance of £4700. Still a long way to go, but at least it is going down.
I hope to pay off more in the month of Jan. I have been quite good over Christmas and havent spent too much money. I don't get paid again til the end of Jan, so i will try to be good and what is left in the bank at the end of the month i will pay off the cc.

I have paid another £200 off my cc today, will not have lots of money to do me til the end of the month but should have enough.
I am also trying for 8 NSD's this month. Have none so far  Have never done this before, and seem to spend money every day so think i will find it hard. Today will not be one as i have no lunch but will try tomorrow :j.Emergency Fund 850 / 3000Debt free as of 30/5/2014 :jLBM MAR'11 total debt - 227050 -

I found the Statement of Affairs a bit scary, but really really helpful in working out where the spare money I knew I should have was going. You are then able to decide if that is how you want to spend your money. I think I had my Light Bulb Moment half way through the SoA: for example, going through my bank statements I realised I had spent £600 on Amazon last year!! As a result I have signed up to a cashback website and several survey sites so I can get free Amazon vouchers. Once I had finished the SoA I felt secretly proud of myself and in control. You don't have to post it either, just keep it as a bugeting and motivational tool.
