Just say no! lol
I've started packing for a trip, and I can't fit in my bags all the Boots carp I've bought this last year that I'm bringing as gifts; a good bit has to be left here. And I'm really wishing now I'd restrained myself, just got a couple of nice things as gifts, and stopped. The main people I'm shopping for are in tight financial situations and need cash more than all this stuff, and it would make it easier on us if I'd just given a gift card or check to them as I usually would rather than lugging all this stuff around. But I got so caught up in Bootsing that I spent a ton on gifts (even if they were on clearance or earned extra points, it added up), and I would've done better to not get so much.
So I definitely have realized that if you don't need it and don't know who it's for, don't get it. Gifts are better if you picked them out suited to what a specific person wants or needs anyway, rather than giving something simply because it's what you have on hand because it was some kind of deal at Boots. A few extra pressies to have on hand isn't a bad idea in case someone stops by that you didn't expect at the holidays, etc., but you don't need many of those gifts. That's my two-pence worth, lol.
I agree ! i think lots of us are regretting the bootsing obsession now we come to look at what we have ............there are only so many toiletries people want ! I spent hours wrapping stuff yesterday and ran out of paper before i was half way . Still have a fair amount left in the cupboard and nearly all my family have got at least part of their present from Boots. I dread to think how much I have spent to get all these 'bargains' and points. Luckily money is not too much of a problem on this relatively small scale!
New Years resolution has to be to cut down on the Bootsing! (once the sale is over ......................)0 -

Hi, skibster
I am sorry to hear you're a bit disappointed with your shopping and that you can't pack them allI know how it felt buying the stuff: "such a great bargain, I am sure someone will love it". I also got more than I need ofo some toiletries and it is interesting how now I cannot justify giving them to some people simply because I have too many of them... It does not feel personalized at all. Now I realize that I am the ONE who loves the stuff and is eagerly awaiting to try her next body butter or hand cream. In the end, most of the stuff is actually for me!!
Anyway, if you've got too much, someone has mentioned there are these charity shoe boxes that you can donate to women's shelters. I am sure you can fill a couple of those and give them as xmas gitfts. I did try to find some where I lived since I also had way too much stuff to pack but have to confess I did search enough, so can't really help you... I know for a fact that Cancer Research (your local store) will take cosmetics if they are unopened. I am not sure if they will give them as gifts to women or if they will sell them, but regardless, it is a feel-good gesture.
For everyone else: it might be interesting if some of you who know how to get these boxes to women's shelter organizations to share a contact or where to send these. I am sure lots of us have spares at xmas and wouldn't mind sharing some of our haul with those less fortunate. Perhaps CPG could add this to the first post as a festive FAQ. Just a thought.0 -
I just tried the JK wipes and found they are extremely oily. Don't think I like them at all.0

Hi,
I've been following the Boots for a few months and many thanks to all the heads up for bargains and glitches. I'm a bit of a hoarder and when I look at the amount of Boots bags of goodies that I have I've had to really cut back this month.
However I have filled 3 shoeboxes with toiletries, creams and other goodies for the female soldiers who are out fighting in Iraq and other places.
I fisrt saw it posted her a few months ago and I felt that I put some of the toiletries etc to good use.Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -

Placed an order earlier for £70. Got £27 of points, not bad as it was all gifts I needed. (well doing my brothers shopping for him so lots of points for no spend.:D ) Thanks to CPG for the heads up on the celebrity sets, got one for me and my 2 sisters. I really like the little purse/bag.
Ive got a list compiled for a nice little shop. Should be around £12 with 1400 points so will hopefully have around £50 points for the sales.:D'They only had one cow!'0 -

Certainly my last one didn't - even though there is a space for it to be printed.
Actually that's true as mine didn't have a price on it but I assumed that was a mistake and frantically checked my bank account to check that they hadn't taken the 'actual' cost of the goods off. However it does state how many points you've earned so I guess they could work out how much you'd spent from that buy tbh I don't think they would bother. However, think I have thrown the dispatch note as know that even if I can't use them other people I know will be pleased with the donation!

I know from previous posts that there are those of us who know from first-hand experience just how busy the women's refuges are at Christmas.
You can find the public telephone numbers of a refuge near you here where you can arrange to make a donation of some of your Boots stash.
Don't forget that most of these ladies will have left home with only their children and the clothes they were wearing, nothing else, so everything is welcome particularly the basics such as soap, shampoo, nappies and children's toiletries.
Of course it's a year round project and they are also happy to accept donations of clothing and used furniture for those who are setting up a new home at all times of the year.0
