The mountain might not be there in 4 years time! It's taking people forever to switch to digital, won't HD be the same? (or is it just transmitted using the existing medium)0

I agree with kmkmkm.....
CRT is still the best value.
Nobody 'needs' a Plasma or LCD or HDTV.
If your TV is still working there is no need to change it.0 -
Agree that CRT is best value right now and probably best quality as well if we consider that HD broadcats arent widespread,Im yet to be convinced that HD wipes the floor with normal quality. if you buy Sony, Pana or Toshiba CRT you are getting superb quality from all inputs. Ive got a 28" Thomson (black) and has a great picture. I dont want to risk spending £600+ for something thats no better in quality, might have ghosting or blur for fast events or even risk damaging the screen if its not protected - Having said that LCD/Plasma are hugely attractive, quality is there on high end units+will probably be the norm in a few years and CRT will drop in price further. You are paying a premium for thin-ness0

And that's why I bought a 19" Dell CRT monitor and love it to bits!0 -
Its a bad deal because CRT TV's will be obsolete in 6 months, according to the Daily Express. Like videos retailers are going to stop selling them. Would anyone buy a 17" CRT monitor now even if it was a bargain? I have seen 28" widescreen CRT TV's for as little as £125. They are ok if you don'r mind yesterdays technology.0

If you want to keep up with the latest technology then yes go for an LCD, but I would suspect this CRT would still be a good deal for over 95% of the population.
My only concern would be "Who are DIGIHOME?"0 -

How are they going to be obsolete? Are underground Government TV death squads going to go round smashing up everybody's CRT?
People don't buy 17" CRT monitors (even though they do) because of screen size and desk issues. A 19" CRT monitor, for example, is huge (i've got one). It takes up too much room on my desk and only gives me a 17.6" viewable screen. A 19" tft gives me a much bigger screen (19") and much more desk room. Desk room is a major issue when you are working with PC's, whereas most peoples living rooms have plenty of room for 28"/32" CRT's. If yesterdays technology gives me a much better picture, then yesterdays technology is fine by me.Titch

Personally I wouldnt buy that as its such an unknown make, but I do agree that CRT's are the best value and without doubt have the best picture quality out there. It's just a question of space really. I recently got a 26" LCD tv and the picture quality sucked, returned it and picked up a 28" CRT for less than half the price and it completely kills the LCD in picture quality, and I got a TV for watching so if I can get an awesome picture at half the price I know what I'll go for.0

Superb KMKMKM
I work as an estimator in the Electronics industry and an LCD should in theory be cheaper than CRT so the while the manufacturers recover their development costs indeed you should stick to the CRTs.0 -
Some may think that CRT's are on their way out, and that's mostly true (the old technology anyway) ...but with new advances in technology they may be making a comeback, i've already seen early versions of the new breed of CRT ...and their flat.... ish ;-)

I'd have one tomorrow...
*Still using 2 big Sony 21" CRT's in the graphic department at work - character modeling and animation ...the image quality is superb - nothing beats it.
Edit:
I'd like to know who DIGIHOME are too, or who makes them :-/ ...quite like the look of the one on Amazon tho - agree, make a not bad bedroom tv.
