Barclaycard customers' warning. Check your repayment date

Am I right in thinking that if you have a direct debit set up with barclays they can't catch you out as the payment will be taken out of your account earlier? (unless ofcourse if you haven't got enough funds yet in your bank account..)

That's what they (Barclays) are saying as the way to avoid getting caught out - it may also be a ploy to get more people to pay by direct debit - they can maintain their cash flow at the cost of yours!
