Just bought a Xmas gift for my daughter in ELC. I paid the price marked on the product so no reduction. My receipt states at the bottom:
“As notified, I agree to pay 2.5% of the total to ELC Merchant Services Ltd for handling services it provides me. The total price paid is not affected.”0

There are lots of businesses that do this; it relates to their credit/debit card merchant services facilities...not VAT0

Purchased goods at Go Outdoor store and asumed price reduction would occur at the till - but it didn't! When questioned the manager said they were only reducing some special offer items. Very poor.0

I have booked a break through Expedia,we are going away in March, so i have paid the majority of the money, I had a look and the original e-mail invoice doesn't say anything about VAT, and I checked on the expedia site and I can't see and reduction in the cost, should there be?
 Thanks

BUTSky is committed to ensuring that customers benefit from the reduction in UK VAT. Prices are being reduced on Sky TV subscriptions and we’re also reducing our charges for other products and services where UK VAT is applicable (and prices are not already discounted).
The new prices are effective from 1 December 2008. To ensure that customers receive the full benefit of our new prices, we will backdate reductions by applying credits to customers’ accounts.
The price reduction will apply to the following products and services:
 · Sky TV, Multiroom, Sky+ and Sky+HD subscriptions
 · A la carte channels such as MUTV and Chelsea TV
 · Sky Box Office
 · Sky Player
 · Sky boxes including Sky+ and Sky+HD boxes*
 · Installation and service call charges*
 · Sky Pay Once Watch Forever
 · Freesat from Sky
 *Except where already discounted
Some Sky branded products – such as Go!View and Sky Protect - are billed jointly with our business partners. We are currently working to reduce these prices also. Some of our products and services, such as Sky Broadband subscriptions and Sky Talk charges, are not subject to the standard rate of UK VAT - and are therefore not affected by the recent change. Other products and services have already been discounted to below cost price and therefore will not be reduced further. Where our services are billed by a third party, we are working to reduce these prices too.
So what mysterious new rate of VAT is the broadband charged at?
I got a letter today, too... Good News! They aren't putting our broadband prices up.. (but everyone else's goes up by a fiver in March.)0

The key to this thread is in the title.... discussion.
So it either is a discussion, or it isn't. I did not make it a discussion, MSE did, so I can discuss whatever I want. Same as you can!0
