  • I brighten mine up with some lidls limescale remover and leaving it on for 5 mins then using a toothbrush, i give it a bit of a scrub. Im in a hardwater area and the limescale traps in the dirt and grime so yes, it can look awful. Shower it off with cold water after-it doesnt have the best smell this stuff but it does clean well. Thinking of the hardwater problem if that is your case also, we now have a water softener thich is a little device you coil around your cold water inlet pipe. Plugs into the mains and I think it works by changing the ions. Saved me a fortune in toilet cleaner too! Cost about £40 and we have had it for about 7 years so far-well worth it.

  • The easiest and most effective treatment is bleach made into a paste with bicarbonate of soda, it sounds too simple to work but it really does - apply with a toothbrush

Once you've got them clean and sparkly, cover all of your tiles with car wax and polish off, will keep them shiny and make the water run off so easily!
  • Wow - got some car wax = gonna give that a go! They need a shine, THANKS!

I agree with Apprentice Tycoon, bleach & bi carb is better than anything. Someone on this site gave this tip & I have used it ever since.
  • hello all

just moved into new flat and wondered if anyone knew of a way of returning my grout to original condition without regrouting the whole bathroom, it just looks a little tired.
  • Dead easy - make a paste with bicarb and bleach, brush it on with a toothbrush, wait a short while and rinse off - it will come up like new
