Jess if you are happy to babysit could you get the current people who you babysit for and get them to write some references? You can then put up an ad or 2 in local newsagents and say that you have references available? It might generate a couple of extra people and if then they are happy they will probably tell their friends and friends of friends!

Have you thought about placing an ad in local free mags, newsagent windows (may be a fee) advertising babysitting and other odd job (dog walking etc) services.

Also you should get your own accounts, a little trick is that if you know you are spontaneous with your spends, simply put your card in a tub of water and freeze it in the freezer, by the time its thawed out the urge to spend should have subsided.

Jess, you obviously have maturity beyond your years. Well done!
As a parent, I know how hard it can be to get a babysitter,so definately there is a market out there for it. Could you leave your contact details in toddler groups etc?

Painted lady thats actually a really good idea :) and thanks for every one elses tips. I have advertised in the past for babysitting , paid £1.00 for the add to go up for 2 weeks , not a tinkle.
Just through 3 friends , i could have 3 different children assiosiated places with my number for baby sitting

I am already booked for babysitting on new years eve , wonder if any parents would mind christmas eve babysitting for last minute shopping ect.

I know some family spend xmas eve relaxing and bonding , but i also know a lot of families run about last xmas minute shopping and wrapping and what not.

    Hmm..
