Hey when my bf was 16 he got a christmas temp job at H Samuels. VERY busy but you can get commission so earn more than your standard per hour salary. He is at uni now but has a recurring xmas job with waterstones. Don't be disheartened by those 5 shops, there must be hundreds so keep looking!! Also he's worked at Holland and Barratt and they were nice employers, quite a relaxed atmosphere and usually looking for long term weekend people if anything :) He worked at Holland and Barratt on Sats for about 1.5 yrs through his sixth form.

  • Congratulations on finding this site so young! The fact I'm saying this at 24 makes me cringe...

This place will give you an amzing array of choices and chances to be much richer than you are.

I would very much recommend Slice the Pie, Qype and Dooyoo. These places will give you vouchers, money and other goodies. Slice the pie is especially trying at times but with the vouchers from the other sites, you'll be laughing!

Pay off the debt as quickly as you can.

In terms of jobs, it depends on where you're based. If you're in London, I would go to Harrods, they are looking for Xmas and Sale's staff till the end of January, £250 a week. Can't complain! :j That got me through the summer holidays at uni!
 Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!

Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!

How do you amass £70k in a year?!

Hi Jess - nice to see you on this board and not just finished hampers. I think you are doing really well. Hope you find a new job soon. I could have saved myself years of heartache and really widened my life choices if we'd just avoided the debt trap. My heart-felt plea - is keep it up, stay MSE and avoid the pitfalls so many of us fell into!

    Hi Jess,

It is nice to see someone so young, and being prudent with money etc. I hope you get a job (and forgive me if you have got one - didn't have time to read all the thread). This thread will be inspiring to other people, and it is good to see you posting.

My brother in law is at Portsmouth uni, so in the same part of the country as you.

PS, It sounds like you're a good cook too, good stuff.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
