  • Dropping in. We're sub 5k now! DFD is still Dec 09, I've uped the payments by £50. PAD is working very well for us, I've been really disciplined with it. It's all being stored in the savings acc until the end of the month. We bought a wii fit, but used the cashback from the littlewoods payments, so it cost us nothing. I also got £42 refunded back onto the evil Vanquis, from Credit Expert, who have been charging me, dispite me asking them to cancel in October. Hoping it'll be around £4,500 by the end of the month.

That's fab, we've paid off 6.28% of our total. Keep up the good work everyone. We need to stick together to keep this going and get the 100% by Xmas!

I've been pondering the idea of paying an extra £75 a month, but it only shaves a month off, so hardly seems worth it.
  • Hi mizmir & guys

I feel like I've let you down and I'm embrassed because we've just booked a hoilday.:o I'm not hanging my head in shame, but I'm a little disappointed in myself. I know we should be concentrating on debt busting but our DFD was approx June/ July. We had planned to book a holiday after our DFD but we've priced the same holiday in Aug and it's an extra £1000! The holiday has put us back, but we should still hit the end of year target. We've had a tough past 18 months (illness and carp) so this family break is very much needed and has always been on the calender for 2009.

My eldest starts school in Sept and this is the last year we can travel in term time. Our debts are all 0%, so rightly or wrongly we're reducing the payments and using the rest of the surplus for the holiday. I've paid my deposit and have nearly the balance sat in a savings account. As soon as the holiday is paid I revert back to paying max off every month.

I'm not justifying us booking the holiday to anyone and I'm sure you understand we've done the right thing for our family. We could have waited until Aug and then go whilst being DF, but paying an extra £1000 for the honour. In a strange way booking the holiday is saving money. DH has 99.9% job security so we know the small set back will not affect our DF dream.

Just wanted to say that I'm still on the challenge, but I won't be updating my total until after the holiday.

  • We should have been debt free by mid 2008 but life got in the way. When you have children you need to spend time doing whats best for them, the bills will wait.

    hi all
Another £240 paid off egg cc today. I am ploughing away at that one as they recently emailed me to say that they were gonna put up interest rate from 16.9 to 21.9. I have now cancelled the card to keep the rate at 16.9% until paid off. My other card is at 0% but maxed out so can't bt. I'm hoping to clear the egg card by June. Have listed 25 things on ebay today and 6 dvd's 6 books on amazon. Already sold 3 dvd,s so as soon as money comes through this will be paid of egg. Ebay looking good too as have bids on 3 items, fingers crossed.:T
