Car hire Mallorca advice.

Options
A long way off but any recs for car hire in Mallorca??
It's only a 3 day hire and we want a full/full or empty/empty deal.
Looking to stay at the Camp de Mar area and taxis/transfers may be more than actually hiring a car. Using buses may be too long a trek for a short visit.

Any advice appreciated, we normally hire a car in the Costa del Sol and the Algarve but have not done yet in Mallorca.

  • Hi
Don't know where camp de mar area is, but we stay in North of Island (Alcudia area) and use www.carpayrentacar.com who we find reasonable and have the full/full fuel rule.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Sorry for the delay. Camp de Mar is west of Palma Nova.
Thanks for the link, I'll take a look.

Palma nova is not far from the airport and I would have thought that it would be cheaper just to get a taxi.

if you still want to hire then I would suggest you get one from the airport as you don't want to waste time given you are only there for a short time
  • try www.rentacarvanrell.com they let you bring the car back with the same petrol you set out with and the prices are very reasonable. They deliver and collect from the terminal too.

I would recommend Auto Europe. You can get a 3 day hire with zero excess for around £42. You can also get 8.5% cashback via Topcashback, Quidco etc.
  • Maybe cheaper to get a shuttle transfer to the nearest hotel in Camp de mar.

I would cab to the resort and then find a local hire firm and strike a deal.

Airport hire prices are much more expensive than in the resort and once checked in you have the option of a haggle which you can't really do in the airport.
It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.

The return taxi fare alone is likely to be more than the £42 price I quoted about. You'd have to be a very good haggler to get car hire for free from a local firm.

Only joking and if it were me I would look them up.

Won't be anything old or beaten up as Auto-Europe work with the main hire-car companies at the airport like Europcar, Hertz etc. It may be small - supposed to be a Ford Ka. (£46 for a Fiesta, alomst £60 for a Focus estate). But sometimes you get upgraded free of charge. Also if I had a hire car on Mallorca I'd want to go up into the hills in the north and wouldn't want a large car.
