  • Forgot to mention (in my fevered and ill state) thanks to all the ladies (and Sparky) for explaining WHY women need so much stuff. (or as one clever young lady posted - simply WANT so much stuff! lol)

    Please count me in.

I've got myself a large plastic money box (in the shape of a tin of Carlsberg!), that the top can be taken off, but I've been very good at not using the small change in my small jam jar over the last few months -- just emptying it to bag and bank when it gets full - so I don't see that as a major problem. I've moved the £3 and coppers that was in the jam jar into my much larger money bank this evening......

My plan is to continue as I have been doing, in that when I get in from the shops I tip everything smaller than a 10p piece into it -- and, as far as possible, once I'm given some in change while out I avoid spending them.

I shall be using mine for the 'treat' groceries next Christmas, but may well open up (and bank) the change in mine earlier than other people -- mainly so I can beat the deadlines on the supermarket Christmas Saver cards to get the bonuses, meaning that I'll get even more for my "pennies" ;)

    Hi please can i join?
I have a big pot of change which i am about to count out so will post my starting total.
What a great idea saving the money for xmas 09:T
I just have a couple of questions..
Do the banks change the money ok?
Do you all wait and then change it up all in one go, or do it in batches lol.
I have used those coinstar machines in tescos in the past, as my mum said that the banks only change 5 bags of coins at a time:confused:
    Off to count the pennies!
