Any suggestions for getting my money back from aol ?

It's only £9.99 but they still won't/can't refund it.

I cancelled my dial-up early August. The payment taken mid August paid my liability to them in full. In September they wrongly took the monthly £9.99. I rang them a few days after and CS agreed it shouldn't have been taken - although my contract was dead, the continuous authority on the credit card hadn't been cancelled their end. They removed my credit card details and said they'd refund within 5 days. Nothing. Rang end of September, very sorry, would do it within 30 days, re-took my credit card details to do this. Nothing. Rang October, same story, very sorry, would refund within 30 days. Nothing.

Debating whether to ring again, or could I do a disputed credit card transaction this late? i.e. taken September but supplier incapable of refunding the transaction even though each time they accept the contract was fully paid up and the additional payment shouldn't have been taken?

  • Hi. Do you have the CC bill with the transactions on it? If you wish to dispute it then you will need them I know the CC company have them but good to have them. Send a copy of the CC statement to AOL with a letter and inform them you require payment ASAP ( Explain all calls you have made.)( Names if you have them always helps) and that you have informed your CC company of the problem. This should kick start them into action.

    Good Luck

    Martin.
