Why turn away postal orders????
No fees and can be swapped for cash at the post office or paid in like a cheque."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

You can't exchange them for cash at the PO anymore can you?
For someone who doesn't live near their bank either (like me), it's a pain, that's why some sellers just prefer to accept Paypal.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Do you know why it defaults to an echeque sometimes or indeed why someone would want to pay via echeque over standard paypal?
Its happened to me twice & I wasn't aware of selecting it & I didn't want to pay that way anyhow, as I had to wait a long time for it to clear.0 -
Goodness, accept every form of payment you can!
Why would anyone want to put off a potential bidder.
Let us assume there are two folk interested in an item that should reach £100. And you exclude one of them from using their preferred payments method. You might only get £10!0 -

For the simple reason I do not work near either a bank or a post office. I have to wait to cash the PO and will the buyer wait for their item? What do you think? Besides, I have in the past had postal orders for the wrong amount/wrong name etc.......But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green

It does rather sound like you are new as well though if you don't understand what an echeque is. Refusing paypal, including an echeque can easily get you a warning from ebay and a possible suspension.
I have been selling for a while, but I've never been paid by echeque before and all my transactions have been really straightforward (lucky me!).
I will consider accepting other forms of payment now that I've read other comments and realised it wouldn't be that much trouble to me to accept them.0 -
A good payment to list is a bank transfer as that means no fees and no need to visit your bank. Trouble is that buyers rarely use it as it is completely unsafe for them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Make sure to state no e-cheques in future on the bottom, so then you can refuse them. I am sure you can set it on your paypal account to refuse e-cheques. I have it set to refuse US currencies. Worth a look.
Why not also state "I'm not responsible for items lost in the post", and "No Nigerian Scammers" as well... Yep - that'll stop them dead in their tracks... :rotfl:
The option to block e-cheques was removed early this year, and to be fair it was never meant to work on eBay anyway.
Instead of blocking other currencies, you can also set them to automatically convert to your chosen currency, so as above, why ostracise buyers? Money is money after all.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

What? I always changed my postal order for cash the same time I went to post the item via the post office, just make sure the Postal Order is not crossed. Immediate cash, did this just last week- have the rules changed this week??0 -
Y'know. The fact that I chose not to want POs is my decision and I'm amazed that so many of you seem to have a problem with that. I thought this thread was for support and not nit picking... Besides, as I print postal labels from the PC it obviously that means I can cash the PO at the same time doesn't it?But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green
