Hi alison999, I sent it through Ebay.

I've just check Ebay again and she's paid again via echeque!

Then she must have noticed she had it. The only reason I mentioned that was that I use a diff. email address for ebay and hardly ever check it, so I have missed a few messages myself that way... At least she keeps trying to pay you!
  • You're right I think I'll just wait for the cheque to clear...

An echeque is a form of paypal payment. Depending on you bank account and your bank balance sometimes payments go through as echeques with no notification to the seller or buyer until the deed is done. It doesn't just happen to newbies, I have both made and received echeque payments quite unexpectedly to me.

As long as there is money in the account on the 'payment day' at the end of the 9 days or whatever then you will get your money. :)

Yeah, this is common, and it's not just E-Bay. I sell on PlayTrade, and sold an item that was a refill kit for another item. I don't know why, but I decided to check before sending that the guy knew it was the refill kit and not the item. He didn't. He hadn't read the description at all.

The same happens in retail too. People sometimes just make up things in their head, rather than reading what the words in front of them actually say. It's kind of depressing, really.
  • you asked for a paypal payment , your buyer payed you through paypal
so what has the buyer done wrong ??

when you except paypal you can not stipulate the method they use through it.

Make sure to state no e-cheques in future on the bottom, so then you can refuse them. I am sure you can set it on your paypal account to refuse e-cheques. I have it set to refuse US currencies. Worth a look.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T

I do accept that I wasn't as clear as I could have been in my item's description, but I've never had this problem before.

In future I will state no echeques and will try to change my preferences to reflect this, if that is possible.

 No no no no! Don't do this! I once listed 20 items on ebay and stated "No echeques!". I had each and every listing cancelled. I was not refunded for this.

It is allowed via paypal and paypal is part of ebay now, so you are obliged to accept both paypal and echeques. Not fair, but true.

Why do you say that? I sent her 2 emails explaining exactly why I was cancelling the echeques, as she is new and maybe didn't understand. But she didn't respond and paid the same way again. To which I sent another email with further explanation.

If they are having trouble understanding what I meant why dosen't she repond to my emails?

It does rather sound like you are new as well though if you don't understand what an echeque is. Refusing paypal, including an echeque can easily get you a warning from ebay and a possible suspension.

I know this has already been said but NOOOOOOO. Refusing paypal, which includes an echeque will get you warnings on your account and a possible suspension.

Also why have you set it to refuse US currencies? If you list in sterling you get paid in sterling, the buyer just pays in dollars but you get the full sterling amount
