I paid it beacuse i was in the wrong but my pc mate said i could have challenged it and most the likly outcome would have been it was written off!!
I always make sure i get way in advance now, x
Damn:eek:
I had to buy mine online today (it ran out Sunday) I forgot:o
Couldn't get it from the PO, as insurance cert is in my desk at work:o
& I was off today (well I hope its there, because if its not, its lost).
So I did it online, I printed off the last page that confirms I've bought it & put it in the window. My DH said a traffic warden (will be steet parked tomorrow) would see it has been bought & NOT issue a ticket

You're making a big assumption there, CEO's and common sense?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Good luck needed, as that 5 day allowance for time in the post applies only if it was renewed before the end of the month - I phoned Monday morning and checked. It can still be renewed within the first half of this month, but the car shouldn't be used on the road until it arrives
As for the OP, I'm confused by the story metamorphosing into a penalty parking ticket0 -

the parking ticket is just the paperwork it has been documented on.0 -
So is it a parking ticket or is it a fine for having no road tax.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
i got pulled for failure to display.. even though i had the disc on display... it was sellotaped to the window next to the old one.. for various superglue related reasons i couldn't get the old one off.... stood discussing it with the copper who stopped me.. his camera only picked up the old one.. i had to point at the new one three times....0

Well you're saying it's a 'fine' for no VED but is it? Everyone seemed to assume - cos of just one member's post at the beginning -that this was a BTP issue. I doubt it but we'll see.
You were asked by sarah - who issued the ticket? why not show it and make it easier?

Believe it or not there's a very good reason to still have a "tax disc" of some sorts and a reason to enforce a daft sounding old law.
The reason is that there are people out there who will get false number plates made up (a growing trend I suspect because of ANPR) that match the same make and model of another car. To an ANPR system a car may appear to be taxed, it's only when a police officer has a closer look that they'll see there is no tax disc or the details are wrong or it looks forged.
I do agree the technology could be improved to make it a bit less easy to forge a tax disc..."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0
