I complained to sky about the price increase and since I am on mid package. I have been offered the option to downgrade to base in March 09. This is fine by me as I am a light user but the only problem is if my son comes to stay, then the usuage will go up. Decision, decision, I do not know what to do, shall I downgrade or shall I just sign to sky talk free and keep my bt line but lose caller display and 1571? Thanks

Whatever works best for you, £5x12=60, is it worth this much to maintain the status quo? Why not tell your son that you have sky base and a hard cap, make him curb his usage?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

I have a bt line with the £5 sky calls package and I get 1571 and caller display.0 -
you can downgrade, sign up for skytalk and broadband free and pay for your line through sky (slightly cheaper through sky)then i think 1571 is free as well as caller display.
Tell your son just to get used to it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Not really, o2 seems to be good if you are an o2 customer. At the moment, not sure whether to downgrade to base & stay with bt for calls etc or subscribe to sky talk for free and still pay £5 for the mid package. At least with sky talk I can get free calls to their customer service. I think, I will take that option. I wonder whether there will be another increase after March 2010 as it says in the letter price frozen until 2010.0

I'm not signed to SKYbroadband (yet) but we've got Sky talk unlimited (kept BT line) and we've still got 1571, never had caller display so that doesn't worry me. I've only had Skytalk just over a month but I've already saved money . I'm very pleased we switched. :T0 -

I signed up with the free Sky Broadband Base in June next year. I was most unhappy to see that they've put the price up from £0 to £5 per month especially as I've only had it working properly since October. I phoned Sky earlier today to complain about this unfair price hike, they said there was nothing I could do because "I had signed up for a 12 month broadband verbal contract" when I initially called them to request Sky broadband.
This has made me REALLY angry with them, and in fact I'm thinking of cancelling my satelite package now. It has amazed me that they say they can increase their broadband prices however they feel once customers have agreed to a 12 month broadband contract, despite this not being mentioned when I verbally agreed to the contract.0
