Out of curiosity, if some-one didn't wash their hair and after a few weeks it re-balances out, how would the hair cope if they swam twice a week?
I can't imagine that would work, mine needs a thorough cleanse plus conditioner to prevent split ends, get a brush through and not to smell of bleach!
I take it you can't swim if you try this method?
Great thread btw.0 -
i don't know, never thought of that, unless you wore a cap?0

I don't swim, so I've never thought about it.
But I'd prolly need to get the chlorine out of my hair.0 -

Its oiled or waxed if it is real dreadlocks so protected anyway0 -

This site has soap bases and molds and loads of other lovely toiletry things, but I don't know how moneysaving it actually works out! Fun to do, though - I've made a whole lot of various toiletries for Christmas presents, so I'll let you know how they go down with all the In-laws (and they're a tough audience!)

I am pleased (and very relieved!) to be able to report that all my handmade toiletries and cosmetics went down very, very well at Christmas (even if I do say so myself, hehe!)
For the bath products, I decided on 3 different "flavours" - blends of essential oils; one relaxing, one refreshing and one upilfting. Then I made bath salts, bath milk and body scrub, and put different "flavours" in each, depending on what I thought would suit each person the best.
On top of that I made hand cream, cuticle cream, lip gloss and peppermint lip balm, and everything was very well received. That was before they'd used all the bath stuff, though, so I've yet to get a full report, but they seemed impressed with the smells, and with the products being made of natural ingredients.
I've been using them myself as well, and while I usually don't get on with commercial bath products, I have to say my skin has never been softer! I really enjoy mixing my concoctions together, too, so I certainly won't be stopping making them after Christmas is over!
So a huge thank you to everyone that inspired me to give it a go!! ;D0
