Can a cracked windscreen be repaired?

Or does it have to be replaced?
On Saturday as I was driving down the motorway something flicked up of the road and cracked my windscreen. My lovely company claim that they don't have windscreen cover on their insurance and it's up to me to get windscreen repaired/replaced and claim the money back.
Obviously this close to Xmas I dont have ANY spare cash and certainly not £200 plus to get a windscreen replaced.
HELP!

My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

Ignore......check!

Thought so.....although there is a company on internet that claim they can repair cracks up to 9 inches long! How?

Technically I dont think you can repair a crack 'properly', as it will always grow even if injected with the same silicone put in to replace chips. If they claim it, and more importantly, guarantee the work then it may be worth a look but otherwise i'd stick with a screen.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Drill a hole through the cracked top layer at either end of the crack to stop it spreading, fill with resin. BUT the crack will still be there and visible.0 -

That doesn't sound too bad. Another option would be a good screen from a scrappy and someone qualified to fit it.0
