New DFW - Now my diary!!!

Ok Diary update - it feels like confession
Firstly, I was sort of naughty last nightbut I think I turned it into a positive. Hadn't got my chicken out the freezer in the morning for my meal planned dinner - stirfry - (got up late 4 work, and was still feeling unwell and had to defrost the thick ice of car!). Got stuck in MAJOR traffic on way home from work, and I have the startings of a cold.
The best thing for my cold (I think!) is my quick make chicken stew - so on stopping at the Tesco garage for milk (needed) I did go for their already diced chicken £3.00 (which for some reason was cheaper than the whole breasts - looking at the weight). But I bulked up the stew with more carrots, onion & leek than normal, and have enough stew for two more dinners.
I like to think I turned a naughty of getting something I really felt I needed out of the blue (the chicken breasts for stew) into a postive as I was still MS savvy and ensured it gives me two more dinners!!!
Also today - I rang the bank - and the lady told me how to transfer my savings into current account online (I'm blind I reckon - one of those obvious things when you know how  ) and tranferred into my account, and made a direct payment to credit card!!! Woohooo!!! £125 knocked off!!!
CCard at £55
Still hoping for some help on my above question;
Am I right I should get myself together an emergency fund for house/ car first? before attempting clearing the overdraft - or that first?LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

you mean one like that:D
Well done on getting the card down
In answer to your question
My personal feeling is to have a small emergancy fund, that way if things break you are not tempted to use the credit, and in its own way its peace of mind that you can afford the niggly things that go wrong ,
Just my opinionPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869Numpty,Not sure why but I'm crying. Of all the peeps on this board you're the kindest & most supportive of all & I'm  &
for you all at the same time . Wish I was there to give you a big :grouphug: & emergency hobnobs

LOL!! I love it
– how do you save it to your computer?!?
Thanks Numpty – just with the advice on here and Martins somewhat conflicting advice, I just wasn’t too sure. I will pass over empty credit card to adopted mum to look after (just incase) until the emergency fund is enough for me to completely get rid of cc. Now there is nearly no card to pay I can increase savings to build emergency fund!!
In the meantime I’m not going to count on it, but if my council tax reclaim comes through – I will throw that at the overdraft!!! :j
The damn cold got me good and proper – am suffering today!! _pale_ And thanks for the well wishes at docs – all was ok!
Hope you’re good??? Any plans for the weekend (No spend of course!)LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

Hi Guys
Well good update - although 'No spend' is hard whilst buying budget xmas presents, I had a very good day in making up a family type hamper for sister & kids, Got 2 classic xmas DVD at £3 each! (Muppets Christmas Carol & the Snowman)... also got my wicker basket(s) cheap for the hamper. This lead me to create my own port & cheese one too for dad & step-mum - cheaper than buying an already made one!!
Not only am I saving a fortune but I feel i'm actually making these presents quite personal.
Also today - I've made myself some gorgeous little oat crunchie biscuits, think they're going to be a weekly treat instead of buying biscuits. Cheap porridge oats, demera sugar and margarine... lovely
Hope everyone is well??LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

Sounds like a productive day.
I love the homemade hampers, I often go on the Christmas thread on here just to nose at the photos.
I am thinking of doing the same next year. Will get bits and bobs throughout the year hopefully to put in them.
Loving the idea of a pamper one for my sister in particular.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Thanks Doodledo - yes I am loving the hamper ideas. That thread is great... if you've got someone who you might struggle to buy for, then my theory is there MUST be an idea on there that suits them!! If there isn't then they really are fussy!!!
OOo I forgot to add, my fortnightly food shopping is lasting longer than I thought. This meal planning means I am not wasting stuff and have realised I have so much more in cupboards, freezer than I realised!! Do need to get some minor food bits tomorrow - but not a lot at all!!!!
Also I think I've overestimated for petrol too, any extra left over from these will be going in savings towards emergency fund!!LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

I'm trying to use up my freezer and cupboards too. It's amazing how much is in there when if anyone had asked me I would have probably said I had nothingProud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Me too!!! The old me would have looked in the fridge/ freezer and thought, I've got nothing - I seriously would have gone proper food shopping tomorrow, even though there's two lots of mince staring me in the face (well not staring - they don't have eyes) some beef stewing steak - (will have tuesday in slow cooker - hope the new b/f likes otherwise tough!;)), I have pasta coming out of tubs I didn't realise I had.
Must go and start my HM leek & potato soup!! Will be back here later
Hope you're ok hun!! Wish I could send you over some of my HM oatmeal crunchies.. they're good!!LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never
