Cancelling Cancelling Carphone Warehouse, the nightmare begins?
I read this thread from last year about the problems encountered trying to end a CPW contract.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=619139
I am coming to the end of an 18 month CPW/O2 phone contract. I really want to keep my phone number and I'm not too fussed about a new handset, so I rang O2 and asked what they could offer me once my current contract ended (18th of Dec) and the guy wouldn't even discuss anything! He said I have to speak to CPW as I am their customer not O2. Ok I understand that, but I said I want to find out what O2 can offer me after this contract ends - I got the same flippant response.
I haven't had any problems with CPW so I'm not in a massive hurry to leave but I dont understand what happens if I don't contact them to give 30 days notice - will they just automatically renew the contract for another 18 months?
Funnily enough 2 months ago I would get several phone calls a week from O2 (I think) giving me the hard sell on such-and-such handset and trying to coax me into staying with them. Since I didn't go with their offer, I've heard nothing.
Not sure what to do!

Get a PAC code and go sim monthly only. Have a look here: http://shop.o2.co.uk/sim-only-simplicity0

If you don't arrange an upgrade then they won't sign you up for another 18 months, you can give your 30 days notice when you like.0

He's not being flippant. CPW do their own billing and customer relations for anyone who signs up to O2 through themselves. He really cannot access your details as your not an existing customer of o2 you a customer of CPW's brand of o2, so they are unlikely to offer any deal or discount as you'r not with them.Funnily enough 2 months ago I would get several phone calls a week from O2 (I think) giving me the hard sell on such-and-such handset and trying to coax me into staying with them. My guess is that wasn't O2 as such but someone claim to be so to earn a sale under false pretenses. The networks themselves don't usually be so agressive. I've had a number of calls coming from a company who say they are calling on behalf of Vodafone, but a quick we search on the number reveals they are really just someone trying to sell new contracts. If you have the number to hand try entering it on the "who calls me " site to see if there is anything about them on there.0 -
02 dont hold your details, so they cant tell u anything about your account. only cpw can. therefore u were hitting a brick wall.
no ur bill then runs monthly and they will still contact u to upgrade.
id say to phone them quoting any random deal and they will say 'i can beat that'... and hopefully they will. they did with mine and i didnt even have to tell em who was offering it or what network! i got more than my current contract for £10 less a month. *whoopp*0
