If they're trying to help then they don't do a very good job at it do they?

So fill in a comment card and get up and help yourself.

  • You can tell the relationship between jobseekers and the JSA when they are talking about you on the phone.

You are a 'customer' not a 'client'. It is that mindset that looks down on you when you sign on.

I find it the most depressing place I have ever visited on the few times I have been unemployed.

they can only go so far in helping people, the person being giving the help needs to act on it plus they want to get a job as opposed to sponging off the government

Only based on other people's experiences. oh, and my experience of the people on the phone I've had to deal with regarding my JSA claim so far.

Do you always base your opinions of people you haven't met on the heresay of others???
Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have. :)
  • I think people need to understand that JC staff have 5 minutes with the customers every two weeks, and hundreds of other customers to see to aswell. The onus should be on the customer to try and help themselves and also to recognise the fact that we are lucky to be living in a democratic society where we can choose who runs our government and indeed supports us when we are unemployed.

  • Excuse me, this country did not choose who is supposedly running the country, it was passed by Mr Blair to Mr Gordon without any referendum.

Personally, I hope you get treated the way you deserve

I wasn't being derogatory..... I merely meant that if you treat people with respect, you get respect...... treat them with contempt & you will get that back, too!!!! The choice is hers!!!!

Customer/client... who cares!! Personally, using the term 'client' makes it spound like you are in a brothel!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!

I feel sorry for people that work for JobCentre Plus - or will do in the next few weeks (which is when this board will get clogged with rubbish as well).

27,000 out of a job at Woolworths. Shame that.

I just wonder how many Woolworth sob stories we are going to get on here.

Well lets face it if you were on the shop floor its going to be very hard to find a job, basically no one is looking for sales assistants at the moment.
I don't think its fair to be sarcastic about "sob stories" its going to be very hard for those workers and understandably they will come here for help and advice which I will be happy to provide if I can
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Without meaning to over emphasise the fact (as I have mentioned it before) I was unemployed from the start of January to the start of May. I was let go by a manufacturing company in Market Harborough due to illness and I hadn't been there long enough to have any rights.

I was knocked down and got off my backside, got every newspaper under the sun in my local area, looked on the JobCentre Plus website two or three times a day.

I found a job, that is the better than the one I had before my illness. It's one of those rare situations where I had a life threatening illness but am glad I did. It knocked me down but I'm now happier than ever.

I cannot and will not accept people that come on here complaining the world is against them. Instead of posting on here, they should use the time practically actually looking for a job.

With Woolworths, I don't sympathise because a lot of people could see this coming. I knew when they shut the Leicester branch two years ago that the clock was ticking.

I also believe that if you voted Labour in 1997 you are now reaping what you sowed. The issues facing the country are caused by financial mismanagement by this government and not buy what happened in America.
