I think I need to get out more!! why is there a guard in the job center??0

I don't mind with the waiting but the guard was rather rude when I asked if he had any idea how long it was going to be.
Because you're another in a long line of people who failed to notice the lettering on his uniform of the company he works for. He doesn't work for DWP, he works for a security company contracted by the DWP. It is not his job to know about the reception practices etc. You might as well ask a complete stranger walking by.0 -
there is a guard in my jobcentre too. I feel when I go to sign on that they treat you like little children. I always feel really stupid going there. The whole system is wrong. Also the jobs that are on the website have been closed or no longer exist because the employer has failed to notify the jobcentre of the post being filled. I search the jobsites every day and am even trying to set up from home as a copy typist which so far after two adverts is having no effect. But my friend has told me not to give up. I have joined three agencies and constantly sending letters out to local firms to try and get work. Its hard.

Agency's leave old ad's up to make it look like they have more to offer. Forget about them if you ask me0 -

no offence but the guard isn't a FAQ point, he has a job to eject any unruly people,0 -
JCs need to get their act together as I was always seen about 30-45 mins AFTER my signing on time as stated on the booklet thing. It's very annoying, stressful and boring waiting for this amount of time to just signing your name. Then you got muppets who never bothered to write 6+ things they did to in order to find work. There were a couple of fortnights where I only did 4 or 5 things and made the rest up or just put 'purchased Wednesday's local paper for the job section'.
At my JC, there was a really creepy guy who was very drunk and shouted abuse at anyone that always hung by the entrance to my JC. People complained about they felt uneasy about entering the JC because of him. The security guard said there's nothing they can do as he's not inside the building."The reason we're successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course." -- Freddie Mercury

If you feel stressed spending 45mins there how do think the staff feel with all the hassle they have to put up with.0

i never had to wait as long as 45 mins, most i had to wait was maybe 10 minutes, i can imagine how boring it is to have to wait,0 -
Sadly you can completely ignore the Job Centre when it comes to them helping you with jobs. Just fill in their forms and the booklet and what ever the minimum is they require for you to get JSA.
Then look for jobs on your own, register with agencies, online at Monster etc.
Every time I have had to claim JSA my Job Centre have been totally and utterly useless without fail.
I consider them a necessary evil that I must endure in order to get JSA while I look for my own job.
The staff that I have dealt with are unaware of what you are entitled to when you are unemployed unfortunately. Even though there may be leaflets available at the Job centre informing customers of their entitlement which can lead to confusion, with staff telling you one thing and leaflets the other. If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0
